1.8.5 Makrup text fail

Postby Kilinich » Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:46 am

[small][/small], [sub][/sub] and [sup][/sup] tags don't work for me at all. It slightly enlarge selected part of text and move it a little bit (higher or lower). :wtf:

Windows 7 x32, I've try few fonts with same result.

Well I know that [sub] and [sup] are supposed to move it higher/lower, so I don't think those are messed up. [small] probably is, though.

Some of these features work on some fonts/systems and not on others. It is out of my hands! (submit a bug report to the Pango team if you like...)

For me sub/sup works for most fonts (though the effect is suttle) but small works for no fonts. I'll remove "small".

Algodoo depends on thrid pirty libraries (as does most software), and if there is a problem with that library, there is not much I can do about it.

Algodoo is not primarily (nor secondariily) a text editor - there are other software for that. I added the support for markup because I thought some of you would enjoy using it. Yes, it is not perfect, but maybe sub-perfect is better than nothing at all?

You're right that it can be confusing when a button does not do what you expect it too. In the next version I'll remove the SMALL, SUB and SUP buttons.

Well, actually, you can. You can submit a report and answer to us - "Bug report confirmed, we working with third party text engine developers to correct it, meanwhile buttons will be removed".

It's almost the same but sounds nice
