Re: Algodoo forum is dead
One good thing about large forums is rather then the usual check in once a day turns into, check when ever i want as many times as i want, for as long as i want.

And as time goes on...
Still the forum suffers.
Continuously only 2-5 real users online, and there are only 10-15 active members.
Algodoo and Algobox need advertising.

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

this
Basically, there are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who know binary, and those who don't.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright until they open their mouths.

Support, actually.
Programmers and/or physicists would have the priority.

Algodoo has plenty of advertising, just the wrong target audience, perhaps if we start a specifically named porn site to bring in a new target audience which should lead to a name change and i'm sort of over the whole "Algodoo" thing.

Wait, so you want to advertise Algodoo on a porn site? Or did I read that wrong...

If you googled "Phun" about 3 years ago you would get the porn site Phun.org and the old forums were under Phunland.com
so i bet several guys looking for physics got porn and vice versa

Re: Algodoo forum is dead
Mystery, once again,
Dare, I'm really not sure.
Nxdt, Well, it seems to me that the physics, at least at this point, has taken over that particular name.
As far as the whole advertizing thing goes, I think we need to advertize to everyone possible.
Or maybe just advertize the forums to Algobox?

Exactly. Algobox certainly isn't short of users, only the forums. Get advertising, admins!

Mabye attempt to merge algodoo box and the forums, how about a "Post in forums" button when you upload a scene? Or when people join algodoo box it asks if they want to create an account on the forums as well.

I think forum users should avoid making suchlike comments if they can't be more friendly to uninformed newbies.
This thread is bad and you should feel bad.

True, we ALL need to be more friendly to those who are new to the forums!
Lets face it, most of us would have made a few mistakes when we first joined...
I bet that most of us, if we looked back at when we where all newbies, would proberbly be shockedat what we where like.
Hm, maybe an introduction thread for newbies to post a short paragraph or bio, about them selfs. If we welcome new users, they will feel more welcome and would be more likely to stay and become an active member of the community!

Hmm... I really like the way this is headed.
I support the option to automatically create a forum account with your Algobox account.
I would also support the option to link an Algobox account to a forum account, so it would display things like scene count, average scene rating, so-forth under your avatar.
I also support all of Ivan and Electronicboy's posts.
I might also suggest directing some of the advertizing toward Algobox users with more, higher-ranked scenes.

That's top notch humor right there.
I'm going to continue doing the "Dr. Cox" thing and be the lovable dick.

Nice work.
Newcomers need to feel more welcomed and at home if the forum is to be revived.

I already saw the new forum. When I saw it, my first reaction was that of amazement:
Someone Else wrote:Wow! They listened to us!
I also think that this whole admin-who-is-also-already-active-in-the-forum, meaning Electronicboy, is really going to help us out as well. As we have just seen.

This might be a bit obvious, but If we were to advertise on websites, the best sites to advertise on would probably be ones centered around something somewhat similar to the concept of Algodoo.

*annoying superhero cartoon narrator* AND CAPTAIN OBVIOUS STRIKES AGAIN!
i suggest the physion boards (if you dont mind a ban ), maybe java games like dust (and similar).
The problem is, is that algodoo only has a small group of games of similarity (mainly physion).
also, maybe on release of algodoo 2.O (well, we all know is coming in next few month (hopefully....)), send out an email to all forum users (should be possible...) to let them know!
it may even bring back some of the older members for a while...

Re: Algodoo forum is dead
Advertizing with Google would show us to a lot of people, but it's not free...
I think our best bet would be to advertize ourselves to, taking Electronicboy's post heavily into account, Algobox, Physion, the Powder Game, Laputan Blueprints, Rigidchips, Garry's Mod, Minecraft, any other related things you can find on the Web (I won't, because I don't trust websites I don't trust), and ourselves.
Also, some from our own Algodoo Related forum:
