Hi!
While using Algodoo, which parameters should i use on a material to simulate Earth gravity? 9? 1?
And should i use linear or quadratic?

I'm pretty sure the default settings are earth gravity

Well, actually, earth's gravity is 9.81, and I think algodoo uses 9.8.
Anyway, I think you need to use linear, and there are two factors that affect gravity in algodoo: Mass, and attraction. So figure out what the mass of earth is, and you'll have your answer(s).

Probably i must use a script for doing the mass for earth, since there is a limit. Also, the size wouldnt fit on algodoo.
So, its better to use the values for gravity and forget about mass, but i can use the same density as earth (i think thats something like 5 or 5.5).

Why do you think i should use linear? I think that by default i have quadratic, i must check it. And are you sure that 9 (from real Earth, real gravity) means the same as a nine on Algodoo? Maybe the units are different...

I thought it was linear... I forgot why. Anyway, if you know the mass of earth, then you can make a smaller object and modify the density to give it the same mass as earth. Why the heck is attraction/acceleration not in m/s^2!? Hmmm... I don't know how to convert newton-meters/kg^2 to m/s^2. One thing you can do, however, is to use the default gravity in algodoo and make a spring that is calibrated to stretch 1 meter in regular earth gravity, and use that spring to calibrate the object that you want to have realistic gravity.

The mass of the earth is 5.9742×10^24 kg.
And it should be quadratic since the equation for gravity is (m1*m2)/d^2. m1 and m2 are mass 1 and mass 2. d is distance. (From memory so correct me if i'm wrong.)

Been there, done that
I don't think i got the mass quite right (something to do with 3D mass converting to 2D mass) but i estimated the same gravity using a ball, a spring and a marker

So, what value did you find for gravity on algodoo?
Using the idea from TC42 i found 8,5.
