[SOLVED][v1.6.0] "Failed connecting to Algodoo server"
Edit: (at 2009/09/26)
Sorry, This was NOT a bug.
I've missed to add "Algodoo.exe" as exception of firewall.
I could add "Algodoo.exe" as exception correctly and this problem was fixed.
Thank you for your posts. : )

How can I improve this?

To translators: English.cfg changelog will be useful (even for me).

im guessing you use a proxy ? and algodoo doesnt ask you wether you have a proxy server so it wont work
until they implement that.

Re: [v1.6.0] "Failed connecting to Algodoo server"
It could be a firewall problem, or, it could just be that Algodoo wasn't able to reach the Algodoo server, due a temporary network problem.
To test this, open the options window, and then click "Check for updates now" in the Interface tab. If you get the problem over and over when doing this, the problem is likely to be with your firewall settings.
If it gives "No updates available now", then the problem was just a temporary network problem and you shouldn't worry any more about it.
If it is a recurring problem, you should make sure your firewall lets Algodoo talk to the network. The firewall could be either in your computer (e.g. microsoft window's built-in firewall), or in the router that connects you to the network. I doubt it is the latter, since routers often are opened for web connections.
Or, you could just turn off "Automatically check for updates" and you will never see the problem again, but then you will have to check for updates manually on http://www.algodoo.com (they will be clearly announced).
Hope this helps!

Wrong. You can play offline, but you obviously cannot get updates while offline.

Re: [v1.6.0] "Failed connecting to Algodoo server"
Why not try adding algodoo to the windows firewall exceptions?
following instructions for xp so you may have take a different
in the control panel go on windows firewall and the exceptions tab and add algodoo in there by clicking add new program ( you may have to browse for it) but only add programs you trust to this as it is a potential threat to allow any program to connect to the internet.
what anti virus or firewall software do you have?

Re: [SOLVED][v1.6.0] "Failed connecting to Algodoo server"
Thank you, this problem was caused by my mistake and was solved now.
Detail:
The cause was firewall.
Actually, I've set Algodoo.exe as exception of firewall however the full-path for Algodoo.exe was incorrect.
(Windows firewall was correct, the other was incorrect.)
I reset the exception and it works well now.
Thank you again. : )
