Oh! Thank you both :).
o.O I just cannot believe that I did not found them before, these options were quite obvious to find.. lol
Well, so far I think that we are going to see a lot of new possibilities for "scene-making" with the new features in algodoo.

At least one more beta is to be expected.

Oh, how could we miss that? It needs to be fixed.

Frank wrote:What's the point in the "erase" tool? Just right click with the brush. It even says so in the description. I hope it has more purpose than filling up an empty space in the GUI. There's also a spelling error in the tooltip for the brush. "Too" should be "To." I know Algoryx is not in an English-speaking country, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

My file menus are all coming up blank since I updated. This makes loading new scenes difficult. The files are all where they belong, and new files are saved normally, but all I get in the in-game file menus is the title in the upper right hand corner, the minimize/maximize buttons, and a filter box if that menu has one.

Have you done something with the files in the html directory?
If not, could you try remove the directory and reinstall Algodoo?
Also make sure there is no html directory in My Documents/Algodoo.

The erase tool is somewhat easier to erase multiple geometries with, if not starting on a marked geometry.

@Sonic, Under Ground, and Emanuel: I also have the failure-to-save-GUI-preferences problem.

Off-topic, but in the Official Announcements forum, I find that I cannot log on and automatically return to the post message page after being auto-logged-out due to inactivity, unlike all the other forums.

Then again, in all the other forums, when I return to the post message page, the forum software has forgotten what I wrote. In this forum, the software remembers what I wrote, but won't let me log back on. When I hit the Login button, I get teleported to the board index.

Good. I will most certainly be sure to download 1.9.6 or whatever's next when it comes out.

Also, it is really annoying when I have to go from whatever temp folder Algodoo uses to My Documents/Algodoo/Scenes just to save something I made from a downloaded scene.

It's also annoying when Firefox can't remember that it should use Algodoo.exe to open PHZs, but that probably stems from the fact that I am not an administrator and will probably fix itself when I remember to ask the admin to do it.

Good. It's really annoying.

I was just looking in README.txt in Program Files/Algodoo for 1.9.5, and found this under Changelog:

=== Algodoo 1.9.4 ===
* Missing

=== Algodoo 1.8.6 ===
* FIX: Issues with legacy to earlier versions have been fixed.
[so on, and so on...]

This really confuses me. There are so many ways that 1.9.5 is incompatible with even 1.8.5, so it might be a good idea to run that last one again. Also, what happened to the 1.9.4 part of the changelog?

I also noticed jpeg.dll in Program Files/Algodoo. I am also remembering a problem with JPEG textures simply not working.
Hmm...

I also noticed a bunch of betas of the form 5.x, where x is greater than 28 and less than 50-something.
5.28 is the last released version of Phun that I know of. Were 5.29 - 5.50-whatever early versions of Algodoo or unreleased versions of Phun?

Ok so... when I put the simulation control bar at the top of the screen, the gravity options menu pops up outside of the screen. Also the new direct solver is very unsatisfactory. For example, try stretching a chain with the drag tool... you will see that it gets some kid of cramp and resists the pull, taking a long time to stretch. I've been getting a lot of nonrandom freezes, mainly due to the new solver (a rope with bounciness 20 going crazy in a 4-plane room (in this situation the new solver absorbs loads of energy, for example, drop a bounciness 2 rope on the ground and it will stay still after a few seconds of cramping)), and some freezes happened when I changed some material attributes and when I created some planes.

All very unsatisfactory. The interface needs a lot of work, and the solver needs a major rethink.

Are you downloading through the Algobox browser inside Algodoo?
The scenes should then be saved to My Documents/Algodoo/scenes/downloads

I propose a mode to render everything just a bit simpler, for instance no lines/borders, no anti-aliasing but also draw the springs as straight lines, hinges as clean donuts (a circle of a line) and fixed joints as clean crosses (just two lines). This could cause confusion (e.g. is that a donut shaped object or a hinge?) but most of the time you'll have spent a lot of time designing the stuff in the scene and you will know what is what. I think this could speed up algodoo a lot, since turning it off (which is not useful for me, I use hinges to measure damage) speeds it up as well.

So make a mode where graphics will be too simplistic to normally work with, but which still show what is where. Draw a line from point a to b, not a complex spring consisting of lines circles and strokes. Draw a donut and a cross for hinges and fixes.

I'm running 10.6.7 (but I'm not installing algodoo on it, as this computer is solely for image-processing and stuff like that), would that work?

Or was that not what you meant?
Also, it is really annoying when I have to go from whatever temp folder Algodoo uses to My Documents/Algodoo/Scenes just to save something I made from a downloaded scene.
I think that SE meant when you download (but don't save) and open a scene, and then you make something in it and go to save it, algodoo almost always tries to save in some temp folder where the downloaded scene was put when you downloaded it.

The problem is, we are only running Algodoo on Leopard on a Virtual Machine,
and we want to make sure the beta runs on a real machine running Leopard.
Algodoo on Snow Leopard is working as it should (for the most part) and a beta is soon to be released.

If you download a scene within the Algobox browser of Algodoo, every scene is saved in a downloads folder inside the scenes folder.
If you download a scene from your regular browser, then the browser is responsible for placing the downloaded file on your hard drive, which might be in some weird temp folder, but that can probably be changed somehow in the settings of the browser.

TC42, you are exactly right. And does anyone know a whole lot about Firefox? I know it didn't have this problem on another computer running Windows XP...
