1.9.4 wont open

Installed to a new directory separate from old version. I get a window that says Algodoo QT in the bar across the top, in the middle of the screen it says "Time to mediate...", and a windows error box that says error has occurred and Algodoo needs to close.
No error log.

Im using Windows XP 64 bit.

Hmm, does the error box say anything more?

Try change the name of config.cfg located in My documents/Algodoo/ and start Algodoo again.
Running 1.9.4 with an old config might create some weird errors.

I have changed the config name, I have even uninstalled all versions and re-installed 1.9.4 only an that didnt fix it. maybe this will help.

It appears to be related to your graphics card.
Could you please try to update your graphics drivers (instructions here)?

my only suggestion is to uninstall and reinstall your graphics drivers.

The log file looks like its either not loading your openGL drivers, or it isnt even detecting the card.

1.8.5 runs fine, is something different with 1.9.4 to cause a driver problem?

i have a feeling that they might have updated a few majour components (causing the crashes as well as missing texture problem).

If they have done this, it may cause problem with older/low spec hardware.

I know that kutis experienced the texture bug on a vista laptop, while his desktop which he did up at christmas ran fine.

Any ideas from Algodoo? I have tried many things and still nothing.

It seems to crash when the scene is about to load, but I guess you have already tried deleting _ONEXITSAVE.phz, _AUTOSAVE.phz and config.cfg?

This is before even OpenGL is loaded which makes the problem hard to solve without the computer to test with. Algodoo is now using something called Qt for handling the window and since Qt can be used to do a lot of different things, it might have higher requirements on the computer (as electronicboy stated).

Is the graphics card old?
Do you have the option to try without Windows 64-bit?

The graphics card is an ATI Radeon 9600, Amd 64 Athlon3200 processor.
I dont have any way to run Algodoo on 32 bit.
I have tried after deleting Config, onexitsave, autosave, and uninstalled all versions.

do you have any spare harddisks (internal or external) or able to partition your current harddisk.
If you did you would be able to download a copy of 32-bit windows (retail) and use the 30 day "grace" period. (for xp, make sure its a copy of xp home, for windows 7 it dosnt matter.)

I am not sure of the true legality of this, but i am sure that it is legal as you are using the free trail offered by microsoft.

No spare or external hard drives. I would think if it were 64 bit causing it that there would have been someone else with the same problem by now. I have a laptop but its too slow (466mhz) for Algodoo, besides its dedicated to run my telescope and cameras for astronomy and I dont want anything else on that computer.

I'm using Windows XP Home 32-bit, and it at least opens. Though it is not really functional after it has opened due to the whole square/not textured gui thing.

You've already tried reinstalling 1.9.4 and restarting your computer, haven't you?

Yep, I have uninstalled all versions and reinstalled 3 times. And I have tried a lot of other things including card driver. I may try to uninstall one more time and try downloading the 1.9.4 installer again in case it was messed up during the download the 1st time (not likely but Im desperate!).

I think that I've tried everything that you've tried, and 1.9.4 stubbornly remains square and textureless...

I don't think re-downloading will help It didn't help me, anyway; I downloaded it 3 times to no avail. Good luck; I hope that someone can fix this soon!

FIXED! uninstalled driver yet again and installed a different one.
