Quick & Easy Timer!

Postby Dare » Sat May 07, 2011 10:47 am

How to make a quick and easy timer. Works for Phun and Algodoo.

Steps:
Step 1) Make a box.
Step 2) Open up the "Script menu".
Step 3) Type the following code into the "text" section:
Code: Select all
{sim.time + ""}

Step 4) Admire your perfect timer. Customise font/size/resolution as you wish.

How it Works:
The code takes the current time elapsed (sim.time) in the simulation and turns it into text for your box (+ ""). This means the timer is perfectly accurate from the moment you start on the simulation.

This method of timer is more accurate than onCollide timers and far simpler.

Thanks for reading.

To me, this seems to be far too simple for a tutorial, but that's just me.
Who knows how many people this will help?
Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.

Not anyone, really. Most people prefer timers you can actually pause, reset, that kind of stuff.

You have a point. Some Thyme could do that, though.
