A message to Emilk

I just want to remind Emilk one thing he said almost three years ago:

I have some rather interesting news about the future of Phun that I'd like to share with you all!

I have started working for a small Umeå company called Algoryx, which is the developer of a 3D physics engine (called AGX) for professional use. Algoryx's CEO is Kenneth Bodin, my master thesis supervisor. My job description: coding Phun! Could one ask for a better job?

We are aiming to commercialize Phun, but exactly how isn't decided yet. But that doesn't mean we are going to start charging you to use Phun. On the contrary, Phun will still be free, and receive regular updates! Not only that, it will be developed even more intensely than before. So what you can expect is more free betas for you to enjoy. What you won't get, however, is the source code; at least not any time soon.

We have a lot of ideas of where to take Phun next, but only time will tell exactly what Phun is going to turn into. All in all, I think the future of Phun is very bright!

What I think is happening is that Algoryx is getting Algodoo to 2.0 before they start any work on Phun again. This is just a guess, but still, it sounds right.

Right now algoryx is focusing on it commercial version, which tbh i kinda support them with.
Support for phun is likely to come after algodoo reaches a milestone, as chronos said.

why not just support emil for his great work and buy the game for Christmas or as a treat for yourself?
chances are, a Christmas discount may come. no promise though.

I'd rather them not waste time on the old Phun version when they can be putting their resources to better use in Algodoo.

I don't think any major development will occur with Phun. That would just be working backwards; there would be no point to it from a business perspective, and it is my guess that Algoryx needs all the money it can get (after all, algodoo is half off, and for no holiday, either).

But hey, this is from someone who has algodoo, and rarely uses Phun anymore.
