1.8.5 Whole potential (Included some requests)

Postby Bronie12345 » Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:14 am

This must be a joke error, because so far as I've tested, algodoo doesn't use the whole potential of my computer.
First of all, Algodoo is a single-core program (please add multi-core question again), and my computer has 8 of them.
Second, Algodoo has max used 1gb of my RAM, while I have 6gb (isn't a big problem, because sometimes you just dont need much working space in a program)

then, the solution it suggested:
upgrade my graphics driver
I know there have been alot of problems with graphic drivers in the past, but this is just rediculous, seeming I was just testing an other program that uses alot of CPU and GPU power.. (which was the reason why algodoo ran slow)

anyway, here's an img of the error message:

What graphics card you have? What drivers? Is desktop color depth 32-bit?
Dream of Algodoo as game development engine...

Did you click there to learn more? And did you get the error on April 1st? If you did, it's probably an april fools joke.

I had the error with a shitty graphics card. The solution: Buy a graphics card that doesn't suck ass. I did that and it never gave me that again.

do you count a nVidia GeForce GTX 260 as crappy?
32bit (acually the real 24-bit with 8 alpha bits)

only had the error when I had that heavy program running in the background, before and after that, it didn't gave the error..
Can't algodoo fill in, that if you have 8 CPU cores running at 3.25GHz, a 869MB video-card with updated drivers, that it isn't a graphic driver problem when the CPU load AND the GPU load are both 100%??

Actually Algodoo doesan't support multi-core at all. In some cases it may actually make it worse.

yeah, but I don't think that's a reason to say when I''ve got a sortof benchmark running in the background, taking all resources, which definetly causes the error (seeming I never had it, until I ran the benchmark, and didn't have it afterwards)

Can't there be a program paralleling Algodoo directing multiple processors? This would eliminate the need for complete code re-write.
Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.

Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.
