Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
I just found it surprising. I certainly see your point, but did not expect to get such a good rating from a competitor.
EDIT:
It now edits the inertiaMultiplier of the rings, so the solution is actually possible.
You do realize, TC42, that this challenge is nearly impossible without that.

Hmmm... I think that I get rid of the 3 motor limit for scenes two and onward.

Would you please grade my entries? Or, if not that, tell me why they're disqualified? Or occupy my mind with Challenge 4?
Or check your PM?
Or some combination of the above?

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
The third challenge is near impossible without hanging the inertia Multiplier.
If I try to move it from the top to the bottom, the rings almost stay parallel to the X axis. It must be set to an finite value.
So can it be changed

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
I changed the inertiaMultiplier of the rings thru script on the red side of the claw. TC42 did post after I uploaded, so presumably he saw it, and he said nothing about it, so I assume it's OK.
And I think that the inertiaMultiplier of the rings is already infinite.

It was ''-inf''. I wanted to make it something Finite.
And yes Heres my scene.
Though I had to change the inertiaMultiplier.

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
Hey, you edited the scene twice. You changed the inertiaMultiplier if the rings and deleted the floor. Cheater.
And what version of Algodoo are you using? I think the latest is 1.8.5, which I have and this does not work at all. Try decreasing the attraction of whatever lifts the rings.
And when will TC42 ever grade the entries since your first one for Challenge 2?

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
I may have unintentionally deleted the floor. I don't remember it ever being there. I am using v1.8.0. I updated it, but for some reason it crashed every time I opened it. So I reverted it back to the older version.
EDIT:
I replaced the Plane [though I don't think its presence made any difference.] and I set the holder to change the inertia multiplier [ didn't know how to, got the code from SE's scene.]
I have tested it and it worked 3/5 th of the time [6 times in 10 runs].

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
Sorry for the lack of grading...
Nisheeth, Your entrys for 2 and 3 don't work for me. Try updating algodoo to 1.8.5, but before you start algodoo, delete the autosave, onexitsave, and the begin.phz, and see if it loads then. If it doesn't, PM or e-mail Emil.
Someone Else, I haven't graded your entry yet because it really does modify the contest scene, and I think you can better it now that I've taken away the 3 motor limit.
Clarification: There is a 3 motor limit for scenes 1 & 2, but no limit for scenes 3 and later.
I'm surprised that no-one asked me which orientation the rings should be in at the finish (Challenge 3). For the record, either orientation works for me.

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
Nothing. The rings get attracted into the ring-holder, and then it just sits there, and doesn't move.

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
I am updating it and will then see what happens.
By the way, in the third scene, the motor was supposed to run which would collide with the blue box on the other end and changes the attraction of the holder to 0. Then the attraction of the original box plus the attraction of the blue box pull the rings upwards.

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
I have updated Algodoo, and now it worked thanks to TC42.
While changing the versions, it for some reason changed the value of motor from true to false.
Here is the 3rd contest, now corrected:
And the solution for the second entry, it worked perfectly in here:
By the way this scene worked every time I ran it [which was 25 times.]

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
Nisheeth, I think you need to type into your console (F11) the following:
You should see:
However, I think you will see something more like:
If so, type:
This should make your scene as unreliable as the one I see- the rings get attracted right through the holder thing. So you can fix it.
And TC42: When the icon at the left of the title of the topic/forum is red, that topic/forum has unread posts.
- Code: Select all
sim.frequency
You should see:
- Code: Select all
> sim.frequency
default = 100
value = 100
However, I think you will see something more like:
- Code: Select all
> sim.frequency
default = 100
value = 1000
If so, type:

sim.frequency = 100

I didn't get what happened by changing sim.frequency (which was actually at 200).
But yeah it did become a lot more unreliable.
I have updated those scenes now and its working perfectly for me

Re: Tower of Hanoi Challenge
Sim.frequency is how many times a second Algodoo calculates everything in the scene. Thus, a higher number leads to a smaller chance of something being pushed through something else, so more reliability and more lag. Always make sure it's 100 before you calibrate a scene.

Thanks. I will keep it in mind. Though I didn't notice any difference in the lag of the program [until I increased sim.frequency to 50000!]
So is it working better now?

Should be pretty easy. Remember that
My PC lags @ anything over 700. What computer do you have?

Yay! Now, just edit that into the first post and grade everything sent in since Nisheeth's first entry to Challenge 2. Including updates on the aforementioned scene.
Should be pretty easy. Remember that

Yay!- You may not modify the scene
Does that include thru scripts like my entry to #3?- Walruses are awesome
Do I get bonus points if I add a walrus texture?- You may need to set your sim.frequency to 100
I will do that.
Though I didn't notice any difference in the lag of the program [until I increased sim.frequency to 50000!]

Probably not much different than what you have. I think

It is an HP PC with 4 GB RAM, 1 GB video card, and well I forgot the other configuration, but it is currently the best one available in the Market (not made to specific order of course).
And I will be posting the 4th challenge soon.

Mine's a Dell laptop running el cheapo Windows XP. That's all I know.
And I would've had Challenge 4 finished the day I saw it, if only I had any free time these days. And I've got far too many projects backed up...
