Crash at start - 1.8.5
Hello
I've done a MSI-package of Algodoo 1.8.5, to be able to deploy it in our school environment.
It works on the majority of the computers, but there is a failure with a specific computer model and i dont know why. It crash when i try to start the application when im logged-in with a normal user and get the errormessage "the program does not respond", if I try to start the application with a administrator it works.
What could cause this?

I did make an reinstall of this specific computermodel. And it still fails so i guess this is not software related, it has to be hardware, oddfully.
The computer Im talking about is Latitude D531 (Dell).
It has a graphic card named "AMD Radeon Xpress 1270" and a processor named "AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56"
Any other hardware specific information you want me to share?

Hi!
This sounds very strange to me. So it works prefectly when you run as administrator, and not at all when you run as normal user?
It would be helpful if you could please locate the Logfile.txt; it should be written to My Documents/Algodoo/. It could perhaps shed some light on the situation. I suggest you delete it, run the program as administrator, close it down, then run it as normal user, and then post the Logfile.txt contents here.

I've updated to latest verion of BIOS. Still no success.
And I've test it in all different resolutions.

I don't know if this still happens anymore, but go into your install directory, then Algodoo/scenes/games & phun/ and delete Welcome.phz. Then, go in My Documents/Algodoo/Scenes and delete _AUTOSAVE.phz and _ONEXITSAVE.phz.
A while back, the default scene caused a lot of problems like this, so it could possibly fix it. If it doesn't, then I don't know, but hey, it doesn't hurt to try.

Im running Windows XP SP3.
I've compared with a working machine with the "not working one", and they do have the same rigths to the programfolder/my documents-folder.
I'm running out of ideas.

try reinstalling the redistrobutable that came with the algodoo installer.

I found the solution finally.
As i said Latitude D531 is shipped with the graphic card ATI Radeon X1270.
The latest update DELL has on thier driver downloadsite is 8.401.x for ATI Radeon X1270.
I downloaded the latest driver from AMD/ATIs downloadsite and found a driver for ATI Radeon X12xx Series, 8.593.x.
After that i successfully could start Algodoo.

that was the first thing i was going to suggest...
with the fact that you said you was going to deploy it in a school environment, i though you was an the administators of the school network and would have checked them first
