Winston the Turtle-Bot.

Postby Ravenplucker » Mon Jan 24, 2011 11:26 am

I feel like this little guy has potential, but I can't think of any use for his little ability. (besides looking kinda cool, but maybe that's just me)

So can you guys tell me what you think? Or what I could maybe add?

:D

I have 1 idea. He becomes much more stable if you add mass to the bottom of him. With this, he stops almost tipping when moving.

Nice, although at first I though it was going to be some sort of self-thinking bot. That would be cool.

Wow, the level of epicness this thing contains is no different than your small rocket thing.
The only problem I have...problems...are that (a)it goes really slow, and (II) there is no suspension.
Fairly recently, I made a Thymechanical 6-speed manual transmission. It is a bit awkward, but it WORKS.

Is it okay if I implement this into your turtle-bot?
And I also think it would be awesome if lockdown mode unlocked some restitution rockets. But, I don't think I will do that.

EDIT FIVE MINUTES LATER- Hmm, now I don't think implementing the transmission will be possible, as it uses up all the collision layers. But, I will work on suspension.

EDIT FIVE MINUTES AFTER THAT- ERRGH! Why won't Algodoo let me line this up with the grid?!?!? I can't make an accurate suspension without the grid. Hmm, I will report this in the Help/Bug Reports section. I can easily line it up so that the boxes are just left or just right of the gridline, but I can not line it up any more accurately than that. The Y-pos lines up well, but not the X-pos. It is always about half a grid square off. I tried scaling it up, and when it was eight times its normal size it would line up, but the fact that the antennae stick out farther than any of the boxes messed everything up.
Any suggestions?

Note- I will post the above into the Help/Bug Reports thing.

Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.

Hahaha, thanks Someone Else!

Coincidentally, I tried to implement restitution rockets as it went into lockdown while I was creating it. It worked, but only barely, and it wasn't nearly stable enough for my tastes. So I scrapped it.

I forgot about the suspension until quite late in the project, and then couldn't be bothered to implement it. It's meant to be used indoors on a flat surface anyway. :D

Rats. Foiled again. Not that I actually thought that you would actually put that much thought into my signature... I just noticed that now it appears normal sized on my screen... Waaaaahhh  What were the auto-complete search results? And I just quoted your signature, hehehehehe

Anyway, that is a very interesting robot... how I would use it...
The ultimate umbrella holding robot? I need to add some machine guns to it...

Hmm, strange. Although it may be a clever ruse of mine to stop people tampering with my creations, who knows?

(EDIT)
I also don't use Thyme. At all.

Hmm... You, I believe, are a Mechanic.

I consider myself to be a frequent Phundamentalist- that is, I usually prove a principle works purely mechanically before I build a simpler, more powerful Thymed model. Great example- propellers. As in, airplanes. I built a really complex gizmo that beats against air to produce a tiny force. Then, I could build a much more powerful Density Engine with just a little Thyme.
Then, I used lasers to allow you to control the power of the engine. Soon, I will make it collision-based so it works in Phun.
Frequent because some things are completely impossible to do mechanically. Such as those Thymechanical doors for the Modular Spaceship.

Definition of Phundamentalism here.

Sorry for going so far off-topic. But, I had to.
But, again, this thing is awesome.
