Game under development

Postby Kilinich » Mon Jan 10, 2011 11:59 pm

I'm finishing arcade game and want to show you teaser video.
The idea is to protect airfield from waves of enemies. You have funds (increasing with every hit), fuel, bombs and damage indicator. You can call rearm/refuel/repair aircraft, but it cost you some money.

What do you think I can add to make game more interesting?

Is it possible to make it so that the bombs do not need a direct hit to blow p the enemy vehicles, say land within a certain radius of the vehicle?
If so, I believe it should me implanted, as this would increase its relativity to arcade games.

hmm, hardly I'll do that - I like that way (only direct hit) - all vehicles is armored.

I feel this is already awesome. =)

Is it possible to make camera-pos(view) depends on a direction of the aircraft?
When aircraft goes rightward, I want enough space to the right side.

Yes, I think I can do that.

btw, it's the real one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYRKtihmY0U I really like how it's looks.
9 tons of bombs... awesome.

I think I can make more types of weapons. Like FF rockets and cluster bombs...

Ye, maybe use those as special weapons or upgrades. Anyway, this scene is already looking awesome, I can't wait to play the final version.

So awesome that it's hard to imagine any practical improvement
I agree that direct bomb hit vehicle kill is good option.
But I noticed that aircraft has thrust/weight ratio significantly exceeding 1, while, according to Wikipedia, it has thrust/weight of 0.68. But on the other hand that might make the game too hard.

I want this so much, but I think you might want planes/boats coming too. Tanks get boring eventually.

Can you explain the script in the scene when you've uploaded it? I'm dying to know if I can do this myself.

I don't think this is necessary, but it might actually be quite a nice addition, so I support this suggestion for other vehicles to be added.

I think there should be several levels. Maybe, level 1 has three tanks without guns, level 2 is level 1 + two tanks with machine guns, level three is level two + two tanks with rocket launchers, ect. Each level introduces a new and more difficult enemy, maybe ending with Level 20 and an aircraft carrier. At the end of each level, you should be teleported back to home base for the next level to begin.
But, this looks like it might make my hard disc whether you take this suggestion onto account or not.
Making my hard disc is a rare honor indeed.

Multi- levels is absolute real thing via multi-scene game (instaled as .phi package). Good suggestion.
I'll try it too.

Nice! Let's not forget Comanche never made it out of prototype, so that's a little unrealistic...

Wait...What exactly is a .phi package? It appears that it can load multiple scenes consecutively, but a more detailed explanation would be appreciated.
But, I'm glad you like my suggestion.

Awesome ! I think it will be the most interesting of your games :)
Can't wait to try it ! :D
Maybe (if it is possible) you could add 4 bigger bombs to be used when the player is dealing with lots of enemies.
