pivoting hinges while frozen

Postby jakedmoon » Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:59 am

so say you make 2 circles then a skinny box then hing them together like this

O-----O (excuse my bad example i cant figure out how to post a screenshot)

then you try to move one of the cirles down then you get something like this

-----O
|
o
|
O (the vertical line with the small circle in the middle is where the hinge stretched)

this can cause much annoyance when your tryng to make a transmission or something
so i had the idea of make the hinges pivot when you move the object
like this

O
/
/
O (notice how the hinge doesnt stretch and the skinny box rotates)

again sorry for the bad examples this was the best i could do

i realize that there are bigger things to worry about this is simply a suggestion
the grain of sand makes it more difficult to conquer the mountain while its very possible it would take that much longer

I understand, don't think I'm trying to put your suggestion down; I'm not, I am simply saying there are probably ways of getting around this issue and there are bigger problems to worry about.

Really, I like how the hinges stretch. What really annoys me is when they don't. I often use stretched hinges to make big things fit within a small space and immediately snap back out when the sim is started. Also, sometimes when I try to rotate something like your skinny box thing without rotating one of the circles, I select the box, one circle, and its hinge, I want all the selected to rotate about the other hinge. But, what happens is the box and circle rotate about some point between the hinges or something weird like that. That, I think, is what needs to be fixed.
Let me know if that made no sense. :)

Recently, I discovered something a lot of you probably already knew: Minecraft is awesome.
Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.
