Swamp buggy contest

Postby myakka » Sat Dec 11, 2010 8:57 am

A swamp buggy contest for anyone who wants to compete.
This is my first contest so im kinda unclear how this works.
for those of you who dont know anything about swamp buggy's look it up on Google. for those of you who know some about them there are two kinds. one for racing and one for fun. i prefer the ones for fun because they are beast.

For those of you that havent figured it out yet im from central florida around tampa bay(if you realy feel like a stalker :manatee county, myakka city.)and this is a big thing down here in redneck country.
for this contest you can make either one: racing, fun,or make up your own design(under rule restrictions).

Rules:
* you may make mud "trucks"

*tires must collide with water

* tire friction must be 500

*must not be over 9m long

*must not be over 5m tall

*tires must not be over 2m in diameter

*NO SCRIPTING

*hinges must not go over 100 RPM

*no changing track friction, color, amount of water,or size

*no gears for tires, they must have tread

*no lasers

*no geometry controlers

*no atractive forces

*you can use anything from anybodys scenes only if theres no scripting and you give them credit.

*HAVE FUN

*DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SUNDAY 12/18/10

Hey, this is a good first contest. I suggust you change friction 500 to 2 or lower, though, I might enter.

the thing is that the track friction is about .140 so realy anything below 500 will probably not make it. i would love for someone to prove me wrong. BTW thanks for the comment. comments like that realy help beginners out

How do we win? What's the track? I could build a pretty confident offroader without an official test track if I wanted, but I don't know what kinds of obstacles would be associated with a swamp buggy.
Made some cool stuff a long time ago

@myakka- I'm not sure whether or not this is what you're having trouble with, but the way to put a scene on a forum post is to copy the scene tag on the Algobox scene description page. It should be on the right and look a bit like this:
Code: Select all
[scene]41673[/scene]

only without the code thingy.
Hope that helps. :)
Note- the scene number is a random one I made up.

Frank did say that he might be able to make a suitable swamp buggy if he had a suitable base scene. Heck, I might also.

you mean on Algobox, then the above will certainly work. Algobox is the "scenes" tab at the top of this website. That is, the one you are looking at right now.

EDIT-
Here's the scene.

EDIT- The scene tag is on the LEFT, not the right as I stated earlier.
Oh, and by the way, here's my entry.

Matthias Wandel is epic, in my humble opinion.
I love my brain...

Recently, I discovered something a lot of you probably already knew: Minecraft is awesome.
Due to this, I may not be as active as usual for a while.
