Users downrating algodoo scenes
Okay, I've noticed that some people (who cant afford algodoo..) rate algodoo scenes with a 1!?
This happened to 2/3 of my new scenes, and one of them had a rating 10 also.. meaning.. that stupid 1 made the average drop.. back to 5.1 ! ARGH
I think there should be some way to filtrate bad ratings.. :/ Though if a person really doesnt like the scene..
Well thats not the point.
What annoys me is that I put many hours on detailing that scene, and seems that someone thought its worth 10/10, so its really depressing that it will not get the higher ratings..

Re: Users downrating algodoo scenes
i agree, this is happening to me as well
i think you should have to link your algodoo license to your algobox account, and you shouldnt be allowed to rate algodoo scenes unless you own algodoo (because they probably wont work in phun anyway)
in fact, i think my idea of accessing algobox in-game will hell greatly here

Ooh great idea! (Even if one of the weapons on my Algodoo tank works.. with a small tweak on the gun)
But..some algodoo scenes that dont have lazors still can work.
I totally agree with the square root of -1 x (-1)

A rating of 1 is either a warning sign for abuse of the rating system or an absolutely bad scene (such as stealing content).

We'll see what we can do about this vandalism. We may band their IP numbers and users if they (we're only talking about two persons here though) continue. However, I do believe the vandalism will go away over time, since it can't be much of a life to continue like that.

Exactly what i've wanted for ages, subscibers too. And don't complain about privacy, if you don't want to show your name, don't vote! Simple as that.

Good idea Nxtd, even if I have no subscribers as nobody cares too much 'bout my scenes

Re: Users downrating algodoo scenes
I agree and i've had problems with more than just algodoo scenes, one of my contest entries for the engine contest is rated a 1, but its really detailed and i put a lot of effort into it, so i really dont get why it was rated so low unless the intent was just malicious.
Its a bit annoying people randomly abuse the rating system. I think to submit a low rating, you should have to leave a comment as well explaining why.

Yeah, + that you should be able to put an request on deleting that specific vote, if the rating was made without proper reasons..

Re: Users downrating algodoo scenes
If you have a vote of 1 on a scene and you seriously think it's unfounded then just report it. Even though I can't guarantee that the vote will be removed it will bring the downvoter to our attention. If it's clear that they've been "attacking" scenes then the votes may be removed and the user will be dealt with accordingly.
If they simply downloaded your scene and thought it was the worst scene ever, then that's their opinion. As long as they don't continue to downvote other scenes they're okay and you have to keep the rating.

Re: Users downrating algodoo scenes
We can see the voting statistics per user but we really don't want to look at it much, for a number of reasons (integrity is actually one). However, if it becomes so systematic that it can said to be vandalism, then we will have to deal with it. We can also detect if someone has lots of accounts and uses these mainly for rating up/down scenes.

Re: Users downrating algodoo scenes
Believe i've just fell victim to this!
Theres a 3 and a 4 that have appeared recently on this and a comment saying it doesn't fire more than once. I beleive though, given his comments on this forum and his scenes, that the user is a phun user. If you open an algodoo scene in phun, of course its not going to work properly as the spring settings all mess up...
Pretty annoying though as it definately isnt a 3 or a 4, theres plenty of crap scenes out there more deserving of such a rating.

I think this will (maybe) fade away with time, but might be it will be going on untill no Phun users left..
Hopefully not though!
