Velocitys
I think that algodoo should have an option to change the m/s to mph kph etc
so its WAAAAYY easier to measure speeds.

Re: Velocitys
This is sooooooooo easy. I'm gonna make a speed converter
Btw I support the idea to have built in converters. It could get tough and m/s is the standard term for velocities in physic matters

I mean so you don't have to create stuff or make dynos
you just get to the point

Re: Velocitys
When, exactly, are you gonna need something to go over 10mph? I really doubt you will. That means that having anything about around 15 would be useless. M/s is perfect, because you'd actually need something to go 50m/s.
No support.

Say a young person was on algodoo.He/she don't know what m/s is they wanted to measure the speed of a rocket
they could use mph because its a common measurement. Also they wanted to make a real car they wanted to put the real speeds
without having to use much math.

Re: Velocitys
Also they don't always want to use meters per second so they have an option to switch it.

Re: Velocitys
I suppotr the idea of having a converter in the information menu but not setting the velocity as 50mph as this would probarly cause flaws and errors.

Re: Velocitys
I doubt a little kid would know how fast a rocket even travels, let alone how fast 50mph is. If you're old enough to know that, you should know m/s. Also, m/s is more useful than mph, in my opinion. You can go just as fast, if not faster.

Re: Velocitys
i agree with chronos. M/s is normal in algodoo. If you change one measurement value, you would need to change them all to make everything flow easily and you don't want to create objects using mile's do you?

If you don't know m/s, you should go back to third grade.

Re: Velocitys
Remember Algodoo is an educational tool. So if a young one does use Algodoo and have no idea about this strange term "M/s" they will learn what it is.
Also i doubt it will ever be converted to imperial Usa is the only country in the world that still uses imperial measurements.

Support.
M/s would still be used for the calculations, but in the information menu you can see the speed also in km/h and mph.
I'm in the second grade, but I know what m/s is. And knowing what it is doesn't mean understanding what it is. I know a car drives ~100 km/h on the highway, 5 km/h is walking speed, 20 km/h is normal cycling speed, but I have no idea what it is in m/s. So if Algodoo shows km/h and mph you could easily compare the speed in Algodoo with something in real-life. I doubt you can convert these values as fast as one frame of Algodoo.

Re: Velocitys
Listen to what Mystery said. They'd have to convert all of Algodoo into miles/kilometers if they changed m/s, and meters are easier to work with than miles/kilometers. I wouldn't care if there was an optional converter, but m/s should stay.

1km = 1000m, 10km = european mile? (don't know the international name), 1m = "approximently a bigger step forward".
1m = 3.37
1 m/s = 3.37 feet/s
Hope it helps

Actually it would be the same code with "* 3.37" at the end of everything.
Even then it isn't worth the time you are going to have to learn metric system eventually might as well get a head start now.

That's what I said. M/s would still be used for the calculations, and in the information menu it'll still be showed, but km/h and mph are also showed (could be toggled on/off)

Re: Velocitys
Algodoo is native to m/s everything runs using it.
If you really need to know something in mph or even km/h , just use google or something, i mean it isn't that hard, even a mobile phone has the software needed to oner between between units.
m/s is standard and a built-in converter is likely to be unaccurate and laggy as it would calculate a frame after the unit was measured (as what chronos said).

If your a little child who doesn't know anything, and wants Algodoo to have km/h and mph units, then use this people. Problem solved, go back to finding real problems with Algodoo.

Or you could just use the one built into Google.
