Portable licensing or Per user license-key??

Postby Antotabo » Fri Sep 03, 2010 5:38 pm

I bought Algodoo but is there a way to have like a portable license?? Because I use more than one PC depending where I am (depending if at mommy's house or daddy's house or at school or...) Since I would like to continue playing and experiment whenever I am it would be very useful and fair, since I bought the right to use this program.

So are one of those solutions possible??

-Simply have software and license key install on both (or more) computers and whenever the first open the program, it block the others TEMPORARILY via internet.

-Simply Install the software with the license key on a portable device like an external hard drive or a USB key. (I think this won't work for now because Algodoo use the computer's registry system to identify the license.)

-Per-user license key USB dongle. (a special encrypted usb key that serve as a portable license, many high end sofware used that before but it becomes more and more common)

Or another solution??

If not, I think it isn't fair and I would like you to take this as a suggestion.

Thanks in advance.

hmm...
I thought you could use the same key more then one time. Maybe this is not intentional, but this what I've done with my computer and laptop.

i think you can do it.
Generally the licence agreement says that you can have the key on as many computers as you want but you can only have one copy running (although some say that you can only have the key one machine).

Have a look at the licence agreement and it should say.

They sayd exactly the opposite:

...

The commercial license grants you right to install one single instance of the software per license key. Whenever you install the software on a computer, you are obliged to uninstall and completely remove any previous installations on other computers.

...

I would like to have some feedback soon, I'm sure viewing the 2 replies that a lot of people are confused about that.

Thanks

i think you could get away with it
i have it on to computers.
i think they will let you get away with it as long as you dont have a copy running on both at the same time.

As far as I know you are only SUPPOSED to install Algodoo on 1 PC/Latop per licence. However, I think you can use the same key more than once, but this would go against the licence agreements.

You can, but it's supposed to deactivate it on the first computer, and I also heard it would cause the key to stop working altogether. I didn't have this problem when it was on my flash drive, though, and now that it's permanently on my computer, I shouldn't have any problems at all.
