Unrealistic laser cutting

Postby Rideg » Wed Sep 01, 2010 2:14 pm

Have you ever seen a laser cut through a 100m thick object that has a density of 1000kg/m^2? 0.0001 sec? 'Cause I haven't.

What I'm suggesting is that it the laser will cut slower if the object it's cutting have a higher density. And that you'll be able to set the strength of the laser ( forgot what it was called ). I high value would result in fast cutting and a low would result in slow cutting.

 Discuss advantages and disadvantages so we can reach consesus.

Cut slowly?...
How on earth, are we going to reprasent a laser cutting slowly? If you have a tiny LINE cut out of an object, it'll seem as it's still whole... How are you meant to see?

Not practical. What would you do with an incredibly thin line in an object? Nothing, that's what.

I think it's not about the line cutted in the object, but about the laser slowed down.

Maybe the the size of the hole its cutting should be bigger if it's a big laser? I thought that was pretty obvious so I didn't need to wright that.
