1.7.4 can't select single object
1.7.4
If I select all with ctrl+A and then want to select single object I usually just click on it. No dice in 1.7.4
If some group of object selected I can't select single object by just clicking on it. Why change that?

According to emilk, "That's intentional."

Re: 1.7.4 can't select single object
it becomes very irritating when there is nothing close to click to unselect the selected objects, only works if there is background showing, and sometimes there isn't... I havent seen the advatages of this yet, seemed to work better the other way around. I would suggest mabey doing this only for right click, not left click, or vice versa...

OK if it's the way to make menu appear on double click - why I need this if I use fixed context menu???

Do you plan to change this in 1.7.5?

Re: 1.7.4 can't select single object
Maybe.
This solves the problem of bringing up contect menu when there is no right mouse button (think touch-screens): just double click.
You see, I do not want to have many different use paradigms on different hardware. Having a right mouse button should be an advantage, but you should still being able to use Algodoo without one. Sure, fixed context menu fixes this, but when I forced that one people there where a lot more whining (there always is when I change... anything).
Now, I know de-selecting is hard when there is no background to click anywhere close - but that has always been a problem, and I think this is what I should solve. Any ideas? Maybe just a "deselect" option in context menu?

Re: 1.7.4 can't select single object
i think that ctrl and click should select selected objects as well as unselect the selected ones.
also, on a keyboard, there is a button which shows an opened drop down menu, this should force the right click menu to open.

not the windows key. on the right hand side of the keyboard between the windows logo key ( the "special key" as it is known to linux users) and the ctrl on the far right.

That brings up the context menu in internet explorer, so yeah it would work.

Maybe, have a a customizable control menu? Can change shortcut hotkeys, what left and right click do, ect? That way you don't have to have it change depending on hardware, the user can do it quickly themselves

How about this:
Fixed context menu - single click de-select objects and select only one you click
Not fixed context menu - single click do nothing (if you click on selected group), double click open context menu
