WW1 Arcade Flight Shooter

Postby Dare » Sun Aug 01, 2010 5:57 am

Hi everyone, I have decided to make a new scene, and this one is going to be really good.

You are a pilot on WW1, and you must fight for supremacy in the skies! Your aircraft is an Albatros D.V, an real plane flown by the most famous pilot of all time, Manfred von Richthofen (The Red Baron).

The plane is equipped with a machine gun, which you will have to master in order to take down enemies.

Flight is 'arcade' style, so short take-off and landings and no stalling of plane.

Expected to be uploaded soon.

I am pretty amateur when it comes to scripting ... and so far only Kilinich has pulled off a good textured explosion, but he is a scripting maniac. I would have no clue for textured explosions, sorry. But enemy planes still get destroyed!

Main focus is not on explosions, by the way. I am testing out my flight engine, as well as gun mechanism and I also want to impress with detail on the plane itself. 267 objects in plane alone!

It reminds me of wildbill's scenes.
Millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. Something terrible has happened.

Yes, I was talking with him about it, and I noticed our scenes are a little similar. But my scene has some cool new things in it e.g loops that turn from red to green when you fly through them!

Looks good to me Dare. The only thing I see in the pics is the plane should be in front of the arrow. You could have the pilot bail out with a parachute when hit like I did with my P-51 scene.

Cant wait to see the final scene!

I changed that with my WWI pedal powered plane.

Yes, but only real textures are on enemy planes. The Albatros D.V only shading textures, the rest is polygons.

I made the controls down with up, and up with down. Feels more natural.

Ehh, arrow doesn't bother me. I keep it in front

I'll see what I can do!

UPD: Fully functioning parachute now in scene! If your in trouble, you can bail out and float to safety!

Your best scene so far! The only thing I would change would be to make the obstacle rings a little bigger and use springs to return the control surfaces and engine back to neutral when no control input is used.

Definitely a fun scene!!!!
