Collision layer Hide/Show and Grouping

Postby Dakta » Sun May 23, 2010 12:33 am

Title says it all.

Allow collision layers to be hidden and shown for ease of editing. Also, allow grouping of z-index (front to back overlap position) by collision layer. Somewhat like Photoshop layers, now that I think of it.

So if you have a complex scene with a bunch of layers, you can easily hide and show layers so you can work visually in only one collision layer at a time. Other layers could be ghosted in, so they would show opaque but not be affected by editing. The current active layer would be shown as solid, and others optionally ghosted in. Collision groups for objects would be automatically set to the currently active layer when they are added.

Objects that cover multiple collision groups would show up in every respective collision layer, possibly with a red outline or glow or something.

Keyboard shortcuts for switching layers? Ctrl-pgdown/up?

A quick layers widget, allowing you to control layer visibility (hidden, opaque, active) and add custom layers (as per the “Custom collision layers” suggestion).

Sounds like a good idea, right?

Already have it. It's in the option menu, under 'layers' or something similar.

Though I do like the transparent suggestion, along with the keybinds and widgets.

It sounds a good idea. ;)
Btw, I've suggested "Easy way to check collision group" (with some pictures), more than 21 months ago. :D

Far too many...
Anyways, sounds good, but like someone has said, Algodoo already has this.

Not really... Although the functionality technically exists for part of it (which would make adding it a piece of cake right?) this sort of ease of workflow method does not.

This is another one of those small things that if added would greatly improve the content creation workflow in Algodoo. This is one of those little things that make things great. It's like the wireframe toggrl in a modeling app or the Sketchup layers window.

Good idea, although some things are already sort of possible, I support this as it could really help at times.

it is already used by me, since i collision group based on parts of cars
i dont see a problem with what exists, it works fine
However the addition of selecting several objects and hiding them would be also useful (definitely)
