Reflected Cutters
Ive noticed some things with the cutter lasers, if it is reflected by an object to pass through an object for a second time, it doesn't cut the object that it passed through for the second time,
Also,
If a cutter is reflected while it is still passing through an object, it won't cut, either,
The second thing is what I'm focusing on the most, because it would be quite useful for creating complex shapes.
If it needs Clarification, or you want some pictures of examples, I'll gladly do so
I have purposefully "small-a-sized" the useless, stupid part of the suggestion, K?

Re: Reflected Cutters
Why use cutter lasers when there are the Cut and CSG tools? With them and the grid and a bit of creativity, you can do some very precise shape-building.

Re: Reflected Cutters
When you let a cutter laser reflect and cut an object more than once, it will lose track of how many times it has cut the object. The laser needs to make sure it has cut the object only once, or else it will continuously cut, causing major lag.

Maybe the first part was somewaht useless, and I guess it would do that, conun
@Frank The point of it would be to make stuff like assembley lines, I'm aware of Csg too,

Re: Reflected Cutters
Assembly line, eh? Pretty cool! I'm sorry to agree that a limit on the number of times a laser can cut the same object is a good idea, but I'm not sure if it needs to be only once. For now, I suppose you need to use multiple lasers.

but then, if the piece he just cut move just a LITTLE (which it WILL, unless its perfectly horizontal or theres no gravity), itll cut it again. and then itll move again. and cut it again. and move again. then you start lagging. then algodoo crashes. then you become sad

with the flickering lazers idea, dont do that, make it so it turns on the laser for a split second while you need it to. use oncollide

Also, bending the laser with gravity (slow light down first) doesn't work

Re: Reflected Cutters
Mostly I'm talking about if you have a laser going through an object, ok, simple, possible, but while the laser is still going through the object, place a mirror there that only collides with the laser, so the laser is being reflected Inside the object, it won't cut, simple as that, let me delete the thing about reflecting lasers back inside of it

That's what my laser shield does, and it works just fine.

Re: Reflected Cutters
That's because it didn't go all the way through the object. It went about halfway in and then came back out. It won't work that way.

I think he means its not cutting the circle... But yah, anyways, I understand what your talking about now. Thats weird.

Re: Reflected Cutters
Its not supposed to cut the circle, i want it to be able to cut it no matter WHERE it exits the rectangle, that's the suggestion

Oh... well, thats not how it works. This isn't a bug... but I can see why it is in suggestions.
