infinite collision layers
We must have infinite collision layers !
why we must hard think on 7 level and water ?
There are many projects, that can't to work only with it
for example, my 3d cube, need 8 collision layers, I must use water ?
it's very uncomfortable and impossible

Re: infinite collision layers
on one hand the design freedom from infinite collision layers would be welcome, on the other hand such addition would induce massive incompatibility between creations - imagine you had 2 tanks of the same weight/scale class and want to pit them against eachother and due to infinite collision variety neither of them would actually do anything to the other because none of their collides match. Imo the solution would be to tie ~3 basic collision groups to some vital attribute like density and leave the rest open as infinite but with limited amounts of that attribute so for example you had 3 collidesets ABC that can set any property to whatever they like and then D to Z to AA etc etc can only set say density to max 10 or something.
actually another, much easyer to adapt system would be to make some specific objects not collide with eachother because that would fix all the design difficultys anwyay and wouldnt change the current system much

So, a better, group based, "no Self Collision" group? Sounds good to me.

I agree with Mr_Stabby. It would have its ups and downs. Having unlimited collision groups would be great for some scenes and projects but would cause compatibility issues between many scenes and many phunlets would end up not working with many scenes too. I sort of like this idea, but not enough to fully support it. I would perfer just adding more collision groups. I'd be fine with 5-10 more...heck, I'm fine with what there is now...there is no need for an infinite amount...

Been suggested, don't like it. With the 'no self-collision' option, you have tons of collision groups.

in 3d cube all points and lines can cross with any points and lines
and points fasten on cross of lines
points can't touch points - ok
lines can't touch lines - ok
point must touch own cross of lines
but don't must toch other lines - how ?
and There are many other mechanisms
