gravity on objects

Postby jxybtu » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:36 pm

There could be an option or check box so that gravity does/doesn't effect an object.

Use different collision layers.

This feature is already implemented.
Unless two objects have coinciding collision layers, they won't be affected by another shape's "gravity" or attraction.

Set the density to match the air density (0.010 I think).

Stick the object to the background!

And it isn't affected by gravity!

That's like me throwing you into space. You're dead, but you aren't affected by gravity!

No. No matter where you are there is gravity.

very true. both mass and distance affect it. thats why an object with more mass does fall faster. Its just so unnoticeable that they trick us into thinking that they fall at the same rate. (technically this is true because theres no unit small enough to measure this effect)

That's just because it becomes a very very small amount as distance increases.
THEORETICALLY, if you had NOTHING in the universe, there would be no gravity besides yourself.

THIS will work. It will make the object float as though there is no gravity.

This theory is true and false at the same time.

In a vacuum, two objects will fall at the same speed. However, the mass of the object (if it is great enough), can move the heavenly body towards it thus making it "fall faster".
