lockable spring ends

Suggestions for Algodoo Phun Edition.

lockable spring ends

Postby nsmith » Fri Apr 02, 2010 5:42 pm

this is actually a continuation of crytek's idea... They could make the spring ends lockable instead of hinge like ends. I know there are ways of doing it, but i doubt it would be very hard to add it.

I'm pretty sure this was suggested before, I don't know if it was on this forum though. Anyway, support.

But in reality Springs bend sideways having them rotate at the joints saves us so much Cpu power.

He's suggesting springs that are like sliders. One way only. No spinny spinny. Get it?

a lot of things you can make yourself but theres still a tool for it... algodoo isn't going to advance at all with this kind of reasoning. maybe this idea really isn't needed, but if we turn down any tool we can actually make then this entire suggestions topic should be removed... your not the only one to say this mystery , but its getting a little annoying.

I believe part of the reason was this lockable spring and other suggestions gets turned down is because it can sort of make the mechanical version of this obsolete(sliders etc). I would normally hesitate on supporting such an idea but this specific spring idea looks obvious to me. Springs don't widely rotate in every direction in real life. Sure, they bend, but they don't spin.

Actually, if you hook the springs onto a hole, then they can bend (in real life, I mean).

Well duh. Did you even need to point that out?

Great, another one of the incredibots suggestions. If you even knew how annoying it became when people suggested things just because it was in incredibots. :|

i din't suggest it because it was in there. its just an example and a great game. in some ways you can do more in incredibots than you can in algodoo. unfortunately its dead of all development. looks like this is to...

What? Do you expect them to add every suggestion they see? Of course not. Add that to the fact that this has been suggested before.

just saying algodoo isn't exactly advancing by leaps and bounds. on contrary all these new versions are just little edits.

What your forgetting is Algodoo is an educational tool first and a Toy second. Sure Huge leaps and bounds can be made but then more bugs will be found.

Don't expect automatic success. Wait, do you even have proof that it's not being used at schools?

do you have proof it is? i believe its already successful, but not in the educational field and i don't think it ever will be. physics is one of many categories in school. theres no need for it. we survived without it in schools this long, and guess what... ... we all know how a pulley works...

I bet you actually don't :D
It one thing to understand that a pulley will make something go up when you pull down its a completely different thing to understand how and why it does this.

Right now all your doing is insulting Algodoo because we don't agree with your suggestion :D How childish
