Triangle Tool

Postby Julfo » Mon Aug 31, 2009 8:38 pm

Quite simple really.....

A Triangle Tool!!!!

For creating roof's etc.
I know you can use cutting tools and stuff but a triangle tool would make it so much easier.

Just a thought.

Polygon tool is enough for our needs.
It's not that simple.

Cool. The thing is, I never seem to be able to create a perfect equilateral triangle using the polygon tool, and I would be grateful to you if you could provide a tutorial on how to achieve this.

Thats the sort of thing I mean :). But I was told that the polygon tool was enough, so I'm now using the polygon tool like a good little boy thats just been told off by his elder.

If the suggested features are obviously excellent, they are willing to add the features. :)
There is no need of threat.

I'm agree with Conundrumer. Polygon tool is enough for our needs.

I am sick of people presuming that just because something is adequate for them, it is adequate for the rest of us. Perhaps some of us want an easier way of making triangles? Perhaps some of us want a slow laser cut? Just because other people have different opinions, that doesn't mean they should be forced upon the rest of us.

I think there should be an elephant button, so I don't need to make an elephant every time I want one.

It's not about opinion, it's about practicality. The reason why the versions of Phun before version 4 didn't have a real box tool is that boxes as a primitive shape is not easy to code. And it's very basic, too.

So since we paid for Algodoo, the elephant button is a good practical suggestion for Algodoo?

Maybe a good suggestion. :)
However, your suggestion requires counting the number of sides beforehand, doesn't it?

OK. I suggest new "Auto-linear" checkbox in polygon-tool menu. Is not it good for your suggestion?
*How-to-make triangle with Auto-linear(polygon-tool).
1) Click (point-A)
2) Move mouse
3) Click (point-B)
4) Move mouse
5) Click (point-C)
6) Move back to point-A and click.
or, (5') double-click (point-C) instead of (5) and (6).

The only one suggesting an elephant button here is you. And besides, a triangle tool is much more practical than an elephant button.

But I have to agree with the people who say the polygon tool is good enough, because a triangle tool would end up being a polygon tool except you wouldn't have to press the shift button.

I believe he uses 'elephant button' to make a point. Do not take it literally.

Also, triangle tool seems too useless, I mean, it can already be done.

Your suggestion has pictures and easy to understand. Good job, Chronos. :D I liked your suggestion very much.

What I suggested is new "Auto-linear" checkbox, btw. :P What "Auto-linear"-checkbox does is holding Shift-key automatically (and clicking the left mouse button will act as releasing Shift-key, then Shift-key will be hold automatically). I think my suggestion is easy to implement, relatively.

errm...
Guys, what the hell do you think phunlets are for?
I mean, just make a measly little triangle once w/ polygon/grid, then save the damned thing!
You can scale it however you want later.
As for you, conun, just save ur elephant as a phunlet. :P
Please excuse my posts. I am extremely stupid.
