Algodoo hates this shape (logfile included)

Launch the .phz file, use the shape inside as a chain, and try making a chain. It will crash instantly.

Try copying this shape yourself if you don't want to download the file.
I've been able to replicate the bug with some slight variations to the shape; I changed the length of the base protrusions a little and it still crashed. But it seems Algodoo just hates this particular trapezoid with a base.
Reply if you can confirm. In case you can't reproduce this, here's the part of the logfile for a session ending in such a crash:

You know, I'm pretty sure I used a shape like that before with no problems... I'll try this one later, though.

Re: Algodoo hates this shape
Replicated after drawing the shape myself, but only with the chain tool's "Link Distance" set to exactly 1m. The default of 0.2m doesn't cause a crash, .9 doesn't, 1.1 doesn't, 5 doesn't, but 1 does.
EDIT: Whoops, it's not the shape at all, but the distance-of-1m. I tried making a CGear-chain—just like the normal one but with alternate circles colliding with different collision groups. As it happened I made my chain piece exactly 1m wide, and wanted to make a chain the same size. No luck
.
But it doesn't happen with all chains.

That's how remote the bug is, and yet it's the first thing that my audience saw when I demonstrated the chain tool's new fixed size feature... what are the chances?

wouldn't you need permission from algoryx for doing so?

As long as he's not trying to promote and re-sell licenses without permission, not at all. I think

How can showing off the features of a program be illegal? I don't understand what you mean.

It can be illegal, quite easily.
To my knowledge, Algodoo doesn't have anything like this.

What the hell are you talking about? It's even in the changelog: "Added slider for chain size (no longer zoom dependent)." That is what I was demonstrating when this bug, which has since been fixed anyway, occurred.

There must be some kind of misunderstanding going on here.
