A list of things I would love to be added into Algodoo!
My Algodoo Suggestions
Here is a list of things that I would love to have added to Algodoo:
-Sounds
-Built-in 100% real-time screen recorder
-Air pressure (with the option to toggle it on or off)
-Collidable springs (with option to toggle on or off)
-Some form of multi-player mode to play on-line with others
-Support for gases
-Fire/combustion!
-Better phunlet menu system
-Eye Dropper Tool (colour/texture copier)
-Support for more things in thyme
-More collision groups
-More realistic water (its realistic now, but it is still easily compressed, which is unrealistic)
-Less performance loss or 'lag' when using water
-More materials (e.g. brick, plastic etc.)
-Soft bodies (pre-made and ready to be used, so that they don't need to be made by hand using water/springs)
-Some form of rope
-Elastics
But a feature that I really want is:
Split-screen (the screen can be split in two, and you can view different places of the scene on each half. For example, on one half of the screen you might be zoomed in to a certain part of a machine that you are making, and on the other half of the screen you can be zoomed out to see the whole machine and make sure it looks right. Or you could be following two separate objects that are very far away from each other, for example on one half of the screen you are watching a car at the far left of the scene, and on the other half of the screen you are on the oposite side of the map looking at a different car. I would also like this to be freely toggled on and off, so that you can have the full screen when you want it, and the split-screen when it can be helpful, and you can switch between tham freely).
Well, those are my suggestions. Feel free to comment on what ones you agree or don't agree with, and sorry if some of them have already been mentioned in the forums before.
-Thanks for reading!

have already been suggested before
I think they didn't have been suggested before
More collision groups and the split screen are a good idea. I like the idea, too to have a better overview like in a 3D program where you have top, side, frond and perspective view.
- - - - -
Soft Bodies
Until real softbodies are implemented you can use this:
- - - - -
Random numbers
I already made a function for it. I posted it in the "some extra math functions" thread.
RA2lover also made a random number thing. It works with the random color of spawned geometries
- - - - -
the rope thing...
you can make your own rope using the chain tool. make custom chains and put a rope texture on it.

scene.my.memory = 17;

{
x := scene.my.memory;
m := 1249 * 373;
x = x ^ 2 % m;
x == 0 ? {scene.my.memory = x + 1} : {scene.my.memory = x};
x * (max - min) / (1249 * 373.0) + min

Sounds = support if you can turn them off
screen recorder = support. It can be thymed, but hey, why not?
air pressure = serious lag, no support
Collidable springs = support if it's an option that is default off
Multiplayer = no support. Too much time wasted on coding one feature that could be spent on more productive things
Gases = no support. same reason as air pressure
fire = no support. required way too much coding to look good. can be thymed.
better phunlet menu = not quite sure what you mean
eye dropper = support
More realistic water = no support. the only way to get unrealistic water behavior is to put it in an unrealistic situation
Less lag with water = impossible
more materials = no support. it adds to menu clutter and you can already make custom materials
random in thyme = ambivalent. I like how you have to "invent" random, but I also think random is a good Idea
more collision groups = MAJOR SUPPORT!!!!
rope = no support. It would be either lag-less, or realistic, but not both.
elastics = support. I've heard talk about emil wanting to implement soft bodies and play-dough like stuff, but I don't know if it'll actually happen.

Why did you say air pressure and gases would cause serious lag? you don't know that dude. and less lag with water isn't impossible.

I suggested more collision groups back in Phunland. I still support it. some stuff on the list i would support. Literally i was going to post on suggesting air pressure today.

Great ideas i support all of them the one thing i whant is
Water creation tool like just a pen
an easyer weapon system to make the bullets come out easyer
But support all ideas there reaqlly good

That doesn't even make sense.

You can already do that with Thyme, and some simple mechanics.
Also, use the Edit button.

Sounds would be really epic! There could be a function where an object plays a sound file upon collision, and there could be toggles for pitch so you could make a piano without going and editing each note of the piano. The possibilities for this are endless. you could make cars sound more realistic, make an iPod, so many things!

SPLIT SCREEN WOULD ROCK THE HOUSE
Nothing else appeals to me, though.

To me, split-screen is only useful for multiplayer, and in order to have that split-screen multiplayer in Algodoo, you would need two mice, which can't be done. Computers just don't allow it.
Though being able to save camera positions and warp to the later would be nice...

@Rrobba
I'm working on an algodoo Pressure now but it is very difficult because Pressure you need 3 dimensions and algodoo is only 2d.
3d Pressure = Force/Area (Pascals)
2d Pressure = Force/Length (Apu (Which is what I propose for algodoo's pressure standard))

Two mice can be plugged in and they will also work that's no problem. Ever played "The Settlers 2" in multiplayer mode?^^

You can assume the depth is 1 in 2D

Well, when I plug in two mice, they both fight over the cursor.
That, and screen-peeking sucks.

-More realistic water (its realistic now, but it is still easily compressed, which is unrealistic)
-Less performance loss or 'lag' when using water
these are the opposite of eachother.
If you make water more realistic, it would lag more.
If you want more realism for water , be sure to have "Compressable fluids" On at The simulation options, and Meta-Surface water rendering On aswell(at the rendering options).
also enabling Anti-aliasing through shaders will create more realism.

Yeah you could but then it would be calling it 3d.

And whose to say that Algodoo isn't based on 3d objects that are only allowed to move in 2 dimensions?

You could just use Apu = Force/Area, except the Area would be length x height...
Just a thought...
