50% of the CPU when idle!
When running Algodoo (just idle, not running any simulations), it takes about 50% of the CPU. The user interface is very choppy and unresponsive, what can be causing this?
Thanks!

it would really be helpful if you post information about your computer. maybe something isn't fast enough to run algodoo with ease. i have a suspicion that it's the cpu itself or the ram

I must admit that it’s not the fastest computer around but the last Phun (version 5.28) runs flawlessly with absolutely no hiccups. It’s running on my son’s computer:
Pentium 4, 3.40 GHz
4 GB of ram (using the 3GB switch)
NVIDIA GTX 260 – Latest drivers
Windows XP Service Pack 3
Demo version of Algodoo 1.6.0
Thanks!

Might be the graphics card. For unexplained reason certain card mess with phun/algodoo usually putting it into a nearly frozen state. Users report lots of lag on empty scenes. Anything like what you have?

I mean, the CPU is between 47% and 50% non-stop even on an empty scene like you say... Doesn't leave much room for the UI , everything is SLOWWWW. Running a simulation is, obviously slow as well. Not sure where to look
- Again, Phun works like a charm...

Try to check if Windows is in 32-bit color mode. If Algodoo is in 32-bit color mode, Windows should be too.
Millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. Something terrible has happened.

** Update ** Ok so, here it goes:
When I installed Algodoo demo, I un-installed Phun first (I didn't want to have both programs on the computer). I tried installing Algodoo several times with the same problem. After a bit of discouragement, I decide to re-install Phun (without removing Algodoo) and now, Algodoo works perfectly
Not sure what it is... Didn't tried to un-install Phun because now that it works, I'll leave it like this...

You know, the same thing happened to me, and it got fixed by doing the same thing you did.
Are Phun and Algodoo connected in some way?

The next time someone says something like "I have problems with my computer, I can't connect to my network or, my printer doesn't work", I'll tell then to install phun and it should fix the problem

I'm running a 260 at the moment. No issues at all.
I would like to know, why you are running a P4, with a 260, actually, i'm not sure if any of the old 775 boards, that support P4's, actually have any slot above PCIe1X, or AGP8X
Anyway, we can rule out the CPU, 3.4Ghz is by far enough, back on my old machine, with 4.22, i could easily acheive 600 Geomatries with a 2.4Ghz P4
OWait, read through the entire thread, eh xD Fixed it
