New Rating System??

Postby niffirg1 » Fri Jan 08, 2010 3:43 am

Well i went on algobox and i rated kilinich's new scene the trailer game. And it jumped from 5 to 6.3 and i thought, that doesn't seem right. Usually it is 5.6 not 6.3. And i check various other new scenes that where also 6.3 and only two ratings ( That is that two ratings really means only one). IS there a new rating system?

As a matter of fact, I've made it more dynamic. It now keeps better track of rating trends. So you might see different results compared to what you're used to ;) But it works better this way.

Do you plan to recalculate old scenes rating? It looks quite confusing now
What's was wrong with old rating system? :P

I like the old rating system better because no offense but kilinich's scene has a 9.7 rating with only 14 ratings. I liked it better when it took like 38 10 rating to get to a 9.7, it makes it too easy to get to the highest rated page. Kilinich's scene got o the number two spot in less then a day. (by the way I do think that scene should be up there but not that fast and easy)

Well that has to do with the fact that the system now calculates with other values.. For example, before it assumed that a scene on average had 6 ratings, but in truth that value should be around 4.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean that only 4 should have rated it?

Not at all.. I first reset the rating system to what it was before, and then I recalculated all ratings.. As requested ;)

Nope, that's unrelated. When you change the scene's "allow ratings" value, it automatically pushes the rating back to 5.

nutz ;) ok, if I allow rating - is it recalculating back? I've disable it to prevent 1-point abuse.

btw - I've disable rating for that scene too, but it display rating correctly.

I guess you disabled rating before I added the code that made the rating snap back to 5 if you disable rating.
It's necessary because people would otherwise just disable rating when they feel the rating is high enough.

And yes, the rating will be recalculated back.

Yes it's reasonable. Is it wrong?

Nope, it's not

Hmz strange, because when I did it (disable rating, enable again) it did work (check the scene again).
And there is no difference between user groups (we're both in the same so that wouldn't matter anyway).

And downrating is rarely a real problem to the actual rating value.. If you have twenty 10-ratings, and you get three 1-ratings, the 10-ratings would be in clear overweight. So the influence of the 1-ratings would be diminished.
