Built-in 'Challenges' in Algodoo

Postby blahblah200 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 10:48 pm

What I was thinking was that there is a 'Challenge-maker' button where you could make your own challenges.

You could make win conditions and lose conditions and something like a 'build box' to make your contraptions to do something like archery or an obstacle course.

I was also thinking that you could upload quick replays to Algobox so there would be no argument over what time you had.

To stop people cheating and 'dragging' their contraptions to the finish line you could make objects 'undraggable' in a checkbox (bottom of materials menue maybe?)

I got this idea from Incredibots 2

Don't forget to comment about what you think!!

Most of this is already possible with Thyme.

Possible with Thyme (but harder than what I am suggesting)
  • Win & Lose conditions

Not Possible with Thyme
  • Uploading replays to Algobox
  • Un-draggable checkbox (Unless you use New Method, but you can still drag it a bit)

What is not possible with Thyme is what I am suggesting - and most of it isnt possible.

I don't really support, however it would be a nice little feature... But seeing as Algodoo was designed to be an educational product I honestly don't think this is going to be implemented.

I find that offensive.

Oh well, like all of my previous suggestions, this has gone down like a lead balloon... *sigh*

What I am trying to say is why not have these features?

Firstly

You mean Method-X right?

Algodoo doesn't steal idea from incredibots, Incredibots has been and still stealing ideas from Algodoo.

lol. incredibots will never reach the complexity algodoo has.
it has a speed limit(gmod, does too)
it cannot simulate complex polygons(box2d failure)
it doesn't have un-breakable hinges(hovewer some people are able to counter this by using modified run!escape! bots  )
it is full of "free thrusters and cannonz" noobs(which are unable to understand economy)
it can be hacked
it has issues with constrains(you can break joints with ease, black holes, Z-glitches, SBS things...)

overall, i think algodoo is better than incredibots(for the right price, that is)

back on topic, i support.

What, is Method-X the one with the
Code: Select all
App.step; App.undo

code in it?

I don't like Incredibots either because of the same reasons that you said

P.S. Sorry for off-topic, are updates included in the licence of Algodoo because it isn't really that clear on the FAQ

They only guarantee updates for 1 years after which time they can either charge you again (they probably won't) or its there as a precaution if algoryx goes bankrupt. For example they go bank rupt but they promised updates forever they could get in legal strife
