Phun/Algodoo building standards?
i was thinking about this alot, what if we create a general standard for objects, scripting , rules and stuff like that
so even different ppl, who doesnt cooperate can use object/phunlets from each other
u know like its in the real world. im not sure how its in the USA but in germany we use the DIN-sdandard (Deutsche industrie norm "german industry standard")
mostly evrything here has a DIN
so my idea is to have standards like for weapons, maybe to use a specific caliber for bullets and maybe the probelling technology and u just need to write down the standart into the scene description or where ever and another person can build a weapon and can use the bullet of with this standart even from different players
anyway i would like to hear what u guys think about this

Fairly pointless ass you can make most thing compatible with each other with the scale tool and some minor tweaking.

then scale Conundrumer's artillery so that the cannon fires between 225 and 275 m/s without more than 50 steps while still keeping it accurate. I DARE YOU!
then you'll get why the scale tool is not very useful in those situations..
@tank2333: i decided to start that standard then, by creating that catridge pattern, with 1 meter caliber bullets, and a few variants.

i agree with ra2lover, the scale tool is usefull but complex things mostly dont work after scaling correctly
and when motors springs or hingebreak is used than u have to adjust them one by one
but also i dont like the big scale wich many scenes build with
as i build my walkers i tried to keep a realistic size because big object acting slowly to gravity
but phun acts weird on object smaller than 0.1m so its difficult to build mechanics
but anyways for bullets the recoil force could also be written in a standard like its in reality with "grain"
it could look llike
Calibre 1x2.5-3 AS-Bu0001s
so its 1meter thick 2.5meter lengh of the shell and -3is the entire bullet AS (AlgodooStandard)-Bu0001(Bullet standard number1) and the s maybe for propelling type s for Spring
well all those standards should be writen down somewhere and be veryfied
just a thought ^^

Anyways, I don't like the idea of having to comply to any standards, or making anything that I make standard compatible or anything along that line.

u dont need to build in that standart also if u create something new or in a better way u could set up a standart number or subversion or so
but a size standart for vehicles would be good to compare them easier with each other

Re: Phun/Algodoo building standards?
that is useless if we don't have the tools to measure things like that(like the recoil a bullet is able to give, or a mechanism to measure torque/RPM/whatever.

Re: Phun/Algodoo building standards?
than we have to build them
we can measure rpm with the K-probe and i think its possible to build up a mashines to record more usable things
we dont even have to use general units of measurement, we could set up our own values

You can measure the majority of things using Algodoo's plot and Algodoo's force viewer thing. I don't know about RPM, and you can't measure torque directly...
