please add breakable springs :P

they should have a slider that determines how far the spring should strech until it breaks. just like breakable hinges.

Suggested in old forums, I support. It would be cool.

Yeah this would be good

they need to get a spring range limiter first. i hate how they bend excessively unrealisticly.

RA2, if they add an break limit, that would mean it would automatically have range limit

So instead of the spring breaking, the spring would just limit itself? Seems about right.

i would prefer a checkbox for breakable springs, spirings with limiters, or regular springs :D

i like what chronos said with the check boxes  support

This is porpably not too hard to make either.. i think ;)
And what about springs that collide 0.o ?

Adding something to phun is more than just a checkbox, but I support the breakable springs... the limited springs idea would mean some kind of collision in the spring, which is weird. Besides, with thyme you can do it. Also, springs that collide would completely change the physics of a spring, which means a lot of reprogramming, and I think it's just not going to happen. But breakable springs, yes.

I dont get what you mean. why would the spring have to have a collision?

Well, depends on if you mean my point of colliding or his..
Mine : If you could have a spring that would break, it would also mean that if you drop something on it, it should hit the spring and bend it.. Though this would mean one complication.. reprogramming spring so they bend other ways than just straightly... :problem:

I dont mean to break the spring by bending it. I mean to break it by streching it.

Physical springs are awesome. :P

I know you meant that. I just said it would be cool if it could bend break ALSO...

While we're on the subject of springs, how about separate sliders for spring compression strength and extension strength.

YES :D

I think maximum compression would be cool.. sometimes its annoying when a spring flips the wrong way...?

lets just get back to the point (my point). you guys can talk about your ideas if you make your own topic.

BREAKABLE SPRINGS WOULD BE COOL! just tell me if you like my idea.

Not even a mere description of how they're going to do it? Would you just add a checkbox, how about a slider?
The idea is good, but the way you've done it is just terrible.

Our discussion is definitely better than your suggestion.

For now, if you must have breakable springs, use a spring attached to a ball attached to the object with a breakable hinge. The spring doesn't disappear, but hey, it technically wouldn't function anymore, thus it does its job.

duh... of course its gonna have a slider.

I was pointing out that your way of suggesting is terrible.

How is 'please add breakable springs' a good suggestion? You didn't even put in a description, a way of achieving this etc.
