Where's the rest of the rendering options?

Postby marc122 » Tue Jun 11, 2013 5:32 am

I was wondering, where is the rest of the rendering options? I am using Algodoo 2.1.0 free, opened up the options and went on to the rendering tab and what i just see is this:

Draw axles/fixjoints when running

Max anisotropy: 1

The OTHER question: I changed the max anisotropy to 1, but the rendering stays the same, even though i change the max anisotropy.

Specs:
i5 3350P
HD 7570

Hello marc122 -
To answer your first question, I believe that's all you are supposed to see. That's all I see when I open the Rendering tab.

To answer your second question, it will have to be someone else more familiar with the anisotropy filter adjustment. The only thing I know about it is what the program help system displays when you hover your cursor over the adjustment slider. It has something to do with stretching textures, and therefore I don't believe it will have any effect on rendering geometries. But I hope that someone else will chime in to shed more light on the issue.

Anisotropy is what should be used to ensure that the edges of geoms look smooth (where possible, such as boxes/circles are best case).

Some of the rendering options are hidden, and have to be edited into config.cfg (my documents/Algodoo in windows), or from the console, There is an old list of variables, but a lot has changed since that was first wrote.

As for the rendering anisotropy, make sure that you're graphics card settings (Catalyst Control Centre) is set to use application settings!

I have gfx card settings set to use application settings, but the edges are still smoothed. :(

What i'm exactly trying to achieve is no smoothing. I am on a XPS 8500 and the model is the X8500-1059BK.

I think the shaders will cause an issue with that. The shaders do help provide smoother edges, and antroispy actually just helps refine it a little bit more on the more jagged corners.
Turning it down would help reduce the smooth edges, but the shaders will cause you some issues...

I think what you want is system.antialias = 0 . As said before: you will need to do this in the console or in the config. there is currently no UI setting to toggle this
