The Algodoo website is sometimes broken

Postby Ivan » Tue Dec 05, 2023 8:43 pm

Hi! I sometimes encounter the following errors on the Algodoo website.

1. When I open http://www.algodoo.com/download/, a page resembling an FTP index page opens. It contains
Code: Select all
<h1>Index of /download</h1>

and a list of downloadable files.

2. Clicking on http://www.algodoo.com/forum or http://www.algodoo.com/algobox leads to a page containing
Code: Select all
<h1>Not Found</h1>
<p>The requested URL was not found on this server.</p>

I have observed these issues on both Chrome and Firefox.

In Chrome, I can reliably reproduce all errors by following these steps:
1. close all tabs with http://www.algodoo.com,
2. open a new tab with http://www.algodoo.com,
3. and click on the "Downloads," "Forum," and "Algobox" links,
4. observe an error.
The errors are fixed by opening another tab with http://www.algodoo.com while the first tab is open.

I can reproduce the errors regardless of accepting cookies in the cookie banner.

In Firefox, I can most reliably reproduce the first error by opening http://www.algodoo.com/download/ in a new private window.

The Algodoo website is hosted using HTTP. If you try to access the website using HTTPS, you are either directed to a different webpage, or no page at all. To view the website as intended, make sure your URL uses HTTP, not HTTPS.
