Algodoo Wars

Postby niffirg1 » Sat Sep 12, 2009 11:36 pm

This popped in my head just a little while ago.
So you have a online server where two people enter and "Arena" via online
In this "Arena" It opens Algodoo and the two people have a set time to make a base units and tanks that are automated
And behind the base is a Flag, that if destroyed or touched by an opponent the person looses.
To win you will need fast algodoo/phun making skills. Knowledge of thyme. and a good mind
And the copy tool would be disable so that you couldnt copy guys to build a massive army.
That would be cool but i dont know if it is possible

This could be setup as a contest but it would be hard to stop cheating.

This is why online versing would be the most awesome thing ever. I'd even pay for it. Oh wait...

lol I don't know how easy it would be to make algodoo open in a browser. But a making of video would do the same thing.

Isn't this the same as the multiplayer idea? :problem:
Millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. Something terrible has happened.

That would be fun, but I wouldn't pay for it. Still, it would be fun. And we all know who would win...

No, i would just throw out a bug bomb while his epic transformer tank he made in 5 secs. unfolds and pulls out 3 machine guns, with non-thyme bullets and then it just unrolls the walker mechanism and the non-thyme AI and my bomb just sucks his transformer into a paradoxical timewarp.
Carry on, then, chaps.
Please excuse my posts. I am extremely stupid.

It all should be a great idea, but there are a few problems:
- You need a lot of fast servers.
- Algodoo will need to work with two cursors.
- You have to make a lot of rules to let the battle goes fair.
- If one player got a slow comp, and the other a fast one. How fast will Algodoo goes?
- You need a build limit. If you have two pro's, they both will make huge robot's with thousands of objects. Then you have the problem of above.
- You can't destroy normal geometries, so a car is actually indestructable.
- If you make destructable object's, the game will run slow.

So you see, you have a lot of problems you have to do with. It all sounds pretty cool, but are you going to solve these problems??

Most people have servers fast enough.

You can only see one cursor on your screen. The other would be the other person's cursor, which only they can see.

Rules are easy to make if you know how.

Algodoo will either go as slow as the slowest person, or it would go at the average speed of both people.

Build limits are easy to set.

Cutting lasers can destroy just about anything.

See above.

Not that way. I mean that if you want to make it reallistic you have to make breakable objects (so you make a lot of parts and attach them with breakable hinges). So if you make a solid car and you can't use cutting lasers (because that's too easy), the car is indestructable.
