Cant see hinges/fixates after move to front

Cant see hinges/fixates after move to front

Sorry if this is naive. I did search the forums, but couldn't find an answer.
If I shuffle layers (move to front, or move to back), I can no longer see/get to the fixate and hinge objects.
Am I missing something here?

That's supposed to happen. The object gets moved in front of the hinges and stuff. Just select the hinges and fixates along with the object before you move it.

what you can do is select the area you think the hinges/fixjoints would be.
Selection->Select->Select Hinges->
Selection->Move Selected to front
Selection->Select->Select Hinges->
Selection->Move Selected to front
