Experimental Aircraft Collab
Goals
The goal of this collab is to advance our knowledge of aircraft in algodoo. The collab will work on one project (airplane) at a time and the project will have a couple of goals that it will achieve. Over time we will combine the things we came up with to make an advanced fighter plane.

Completed
Primary Goals:
160 m/s speed cap
Realistic weight (15,000 Kg +- 500)
Stable flight
Vertical Take off and landing
Short take off and landing
Aerodynamic wing
Secondary Goals:
Hooking Mechanism
Measurement tools
Landing gear
Cargo Bay
Test dummy
One weapon (machine gun)
Notes: Keep the airplane fixated so we can work on the same grid.

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
it seems good ill try and help, if you wish ?
the secondary goals seem easier to accomplish than the first set you could probably make a laser altimeter as there is no air in algodoo, although im not that good at scripting yet

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
yeah you can help, that's why I made the collab.
I'm going to need someone with algodoo to mount things for me, I'm currently running on the algodoo trial because algoryx wont accept paypal payments.
Mount the engine like this:
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/6509/mountengine.png
Here is the file:
That covers the supersonic speed, if you can find ways to improve the engine do it.

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
mounted it for you, but, using glue together instead of fixates, you could get to the exact 100 object mark

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
Gluing together makes things messy (for me) and eventually the airplane will have 100 parts anyways.

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
Wing will be difficult. It wouldn't work with airfriction

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
i think its 'without' airfriction.
i'll be testing a spawner wing(able to support supersonic speeds)

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
I'm not sure if the Hover Engine Glitch works in algodoo or not because it will decrease the mass of the plane thus making it possible to add more things to it. However, if make it too light, I will create "Drag" in a way.

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
@ivanlul/lowlol:checking the scripts of the wing, it DOES work at supersonic speeds, but it's annoying to have to keep a button down for it to take effect.
i'll try to do a laser altimeter(gyroscope based so that you won't get wrong reading).

What? I didn't go into a whole paragraph of rant.

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
for an altimeter I have an idea just simply mount a laser range finder on the bottom of the plane, mount it on a gyroscope so no matter what angle the plane is at it points down and I think that will work, i'll make you an example

That would work for a flat surface, but what if you happen to be flying over obstacles?

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
it's a gyroscope-.-
nothing should happen unless you collide something in it or if stuff gets excentrical

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
geniusperson1: yes the bell x-1 for now, after we complete the goals for this airplane we will move on to other airplanes.
For the people that want to join: I don't use a member's list, I use a contributors list. If you contribute something that is used in the plane you will be part of the contributors.
Edit: I finally got algodoo and now I don't have the parts limit. I'll be working on the collab more now.

Re: Experimental Aircraft Collab
Since i thought the airplane didnt look like the X-1 i modified the body. UNFORTUNATLY i screwed up in the prcess and got smoe pieces glude to tyhe bachground. Im strill trying to get the front parts to fit(seat wheel etc) and itll be awhile heres the link http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=31936

The Bell X-1 had many versions, I'm going off the Bell X-1A.
