The red and blue circles that can be deleted without much effect are C-gear teeth. They are just there so the ornithopter can be powered my one motor. (In theory.)

Whereas, davidz's thing in simple and highly effective, but each "wing" uses five motors.

Now only three motors per wing, and they practically cannot go out of synch unless the airship is massively overloaded.
Lots of power with pretty low air friction multiplier allows high speeds.

Also, on air friction motors of some sorts, it helps to change the airfrictionmult to a negative number on the backstroke/rotation. So if you have a standard scripted air friction motor, like mine, then when the circles are going forward, set the airfrictionmult to -50 or something, instead of 0, and the engine will go faster.

Changing air friction mult to negative values can be dangerous, most times it makes construction unstable.
And no script is actually needed. My helicopter works because "wings" are horizontal when going down, and vertical when going up, and they rotate so fast that there's no in-between, so they effectively skip the part where they would push the machine downwards.

Well, you are partially correct. It can be dangerous if you don't balance it with positive airfrictionmult. And your helicopter does not need it at all; It doesn't need any scripting, for that matter. However, in scenes like my air-friction powered car, negative values sped it up quite a bit, without it becoming unstable.[scene]50908[/scene]

Another way to make things faster is increase the frame rate of the scene, or sim.frequency. The default is 100, but By increasing it to 300 i could do this with airfriction,

The glider is a bit unstable, because it has no control surfaces :lol:

Great, but it stalls really easily :D But that would be fixed by adding control surfaces.

I think that's first plane in this collab that flies with thrust/weight of less than 1.

I've managed to pull off more from this design, unfortunately it's still pretty slow. But i'm working on it, as well as adding mechanical cannon. I decided to release it early because I'm very satisified with current maneuverability. (loop and inverted loop possible. With engine off, it glides at about 30 degree angle)

Yeah, I was trying to make engine from your prototype and I've found that in your engine there must be
"mod(speed of hinge, 1500)=0 && speed of central hinge = 2*speed of extreme hinge", in other ways it isn't working...

davidz40, as I understand, in V2 plane wing is jointed to slider... that mech returns wing into neutral state (motors are opposite directed) when speed of plane is low?

Yep, that really helps in preventing the plane from getting ridiculous lift at low speed by accident, and generally allows high lift/weight ratio needed for high speed maneuvers.

As for engine, I found that outer blades go out of synch if they're heavier than central box.

I've made engine and tried to make it stronger (that bomber is very heavy...) and I found that if you make outer blades thicker even in two times, power rises in about three times...

Well, you've copied my plane in nearly every single way, but this one just needs some tuning up. If you are going to build a copy of my plane, perhaps look at my plane and see how tit works :thumbup:

The scripted boxes are actual frictionless boxes, not tiny circles. This gives the circles on the spinning discs the greatest possible chance of being acted upon by a script. This is your biggest problem. I also added a color change to the script, so you can actually see how well it works.

I also added tons of controls, using the arrows and the left end of the keyboard. Two motors stacked on top of each other works surprisingly well. And, you can change the power of the engine by altering the controllerAcc of the red script boxes with lasers, which then becomes the density of the revolving circles, so the greater the density, the greater the power.

Also,
@davidz40- I miss the visible elevator on the second plane of yours with the D-wing... it is invisible on the third... :cry: ...
But seriously. I really liked the fact that you could see the position of the elevator on the second plane. It really helped. A lot.
