DLP Projection TV

Postby memaster3 » Fri Sep 04, 2009 3:02 am

I have created a projection TV base design and I would like some help from someone experienced in thyme in developing it. Please edit it. Projection TV's revolutionized the TV industry by making large screen TVs much cheaper and more affordable for the average American. In my opinion projection TVs are the most interesting type of TV because of how they work. They use thousands of tiny mirrors to focus different colors on different parts of the screen. Mine only has about 15 mirrors, so I am trying to find a way to script it to automatically focus it on the different parts of the screen. I think that if this project were completed it would be a very interesting project. For more about how a projection TV works, go to http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp2.htm If you edit it, please give me credit. I also have a copy of it in in the scenes section.

If you plan to make this work the same as the real life version, you'll end up with a 1 dimensional screen ie a line.

you could make pixels that have 3 lasers in each of them, red blue and green :) then you can make any color if you changed the shade and amount of them :) and i guess you could add other coloured lasers :). not sure how you would change them :) but im sure you could find a way :)

But then it would act more like an LCD screen rather than a DLP projector

i guess you could have the lasers under it then :/ but it would be hard to get them working how it does on the scene :?:

I am planning to use thyme to change the colors based on a box with different colors written to it sort of like the frame cd player But with each data cell written with one solid color.

 Maybe will it better if you use scanner and CPU to show image with the projector.
 But that CPU what I'm making can operate with only 2 colors: White and blue :|

If he continues with this project, he would make his own "CPU"

you could use the collision layers to get a fake y-axis..making the laser hit a box, and the color of that box would change according to the laser. The laser beam would miss all boxes outside of its collision layer.

Now let's not turn this into a flamefest. That means you two, above posters.
Kutis, I tried to respect you. Even though your attitude is a bit annoying, I really don't mean any offense. Just don't take too much pride in your own work, and push it onto other people. Also, you might want to use less smilies, since smilie spam makes you seem immature.
I brought up how he would make his own CPU because you can't make a phunlet that fits for any situation. There's nothing else that will be anything like a DLP projector, so I don't see how one can make CPU that would be compatible, nevertheless being the best fit.

The electromechanical tv kind of works like Televisor then. If you research on John Logie Baird you will come across Phonovision which is how recorded the televisor pictures. They worked like a record but instead of holding sound, they held pictures.

I found this http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=33555 on algobox and thought this was actually a good idea. if we make it so it a laser hit a "particle" on a surface, it will show either a colour or part of an image. On this model I found, if you make it do 300rpm that's 5Hz which is a fast enough a projection so why not do this?

P.S. Also, the reason why I like this is because it uses lines and not pixels.

Yes but a real TV shows the image per dot(pixel), no per rectangles or if you call it "lines". It's a good idea research a iconoscope.

Sgt. Pepper you are right but:

3 dots/lines (RGB) = 1 pixel
2 pixels = grouping
2 groups = rectangle (Square or oblong)

I meant lines as in CRT TVs because LCDs have dots.

You could expand on my laser TV for this.

It uses collision menus. To change the display just change the color code of the lasers. You could set them to variables and manipulate those variables externally.
