A New Kind of Piston/Sliding Joint

Well, after creating the sliding joint suggestion thread, I started brainstorming new ways to improvise one until/if they add a sliding joint feature. It ended up with this. Basically, instead of ACTUALLY using a piston to move the block, it uses gears, taking up almost 3 times less room and making it able to extend twice as far. Nothing really groundbreaking, but I thought it was pretty useful.
