Scripted Boat - Variables and Repulsion Engine

Postby scrabs » Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:26 pm

After seeing someone use variables in a factory-like scene, i wanted to do something with Variables too.
My primary idea was something like a cannon with a reloading sequence, but I couldn't quite find my way around it, so somehow i got this idea.

A-D controls the speed

It is controlled by three variables (next version has a few more).
Variable one controls the speed of the propeller, nothing other than a visual effect, still as the boats speed increases, so does the propeller, for a realistic effect.
Variable two controls the weight of the repulsion block, one of the factors determining the speed.
Variable three controls the frequency of the spawn engine, the second factor which determines the speed.

The next version is still under development, but I'm working on removing the "waves" and instead using a moving frame for a wave effect, which increases over speed, also trying to find a way for the boat to reverse, making a splash effect, aswell as making the boat more pretty, along with more dashboard stuff.

You could make something to move between layers, and then add some obstacels you have to move around.

btw: what was that factory-like scene?

Updated!
Added some new features to the boat!
-Steer the boat! W-S keys
-Added cruise waves depending on the boats speed
-Added a splash effect!
Much more realistic than the old one.

Going too high makes it crash.

In Algodoo you could fix this by changing the inertiaMultiplier to +inf.
I know scrabs isn't using Algodoo, but all Algodoo users could change the inertiaMultiplier of the dashboard for example.
