Oscilloscope wh*ring

Postby Torpedo » Fri Sep 04, 2009 8:33 pm

Well ive posted it in one thread and linked forward to it in another but wanted to show people who i know dont have algodoo or ever will (and those who were never phun users) so i thought i'd youtube it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBuVZqJGS18

Its currently entered in this contest, and i got the idea for it off the tv contest thread. (which was more of a can we start a collab thread)

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21&start=25

Wasnt sure where to post the video, but thought this seemed like an appropiate area. What do you guys think of my first phun video on youtube?

After more work on my osscilloscope technoligy, I'm now currently developing a 15x5 pixel TV. so 75 pixel!

Currently displays in lovely green monochrome, but is entirely possible in future to upgrade to full colour.

I havent uploaded as im still ironing out minor bugs and have a lot of adjustable features i want to add before i release it, also might write a program to allow you to make your own shows, if i can get around to it. Though bear in mind, with 75 pixel,s and 68 pixels per second the refresh rate isnt exactly going to be astonishing.

just thought i'd give you all an update and generate some hype... ;) as i'm mighty proud of what i've acheived so far.

It uses 14, 10 of those make the phosphur fade effect, 1 is the main green one thats scanning across and drawing, 1 runs the drawing program and tells the scanning laser what to do, 1 picks up data from the boxes on the wheel and 1 more takes an angle reading inside the adjustment knob.

Sounds like a lot but then the oscilloscope that preceeded it had 98

Trying to work out how to get this video into the phunbox, tried a few times now and had no success... hmm..

Not sure yet, but it is entirely possible with only minor code modifications. I could easily bring it up to say 3, 9, or 16 colour something like that. But at the scale of resolution it is i dont know if the colours are really worth doing!

(then again if someone else wants to use it maybe they'd want the colours? hmmm :geek: maybe if enough people ask for it i might get off my arse and try it

i guess some people would, if you could get it to say 20x 20 then it would be nice :) colours would make it better, i guess you could only make words with it, but a scrolling display's always an option :)

New update, its going to put off new viewers unfortunately, but I found a way to make the screen load with the motor CCW code already in place!

Unfortunately, phunbox detects that i had to fiddle the phn file in the phz, so the only way i could get around it was by only uploading the phn... which means no picture

EDIT :

better way to solve that issue figured.

If you check the doobox page, I've added a link to another doobox upload which has no image. thats because its just a Phn file, but it is fixed to require no coding whatsoever upon opening!

(probably going to cause a lot of confusion but at least people who arent proficient or confident with scripts arent going to be put off!)
