Before you try to program it, try to understand it first. This would need way more than giving a computer a survey of good and bad scenes. It has to "think" like a human. It would only be possible once computers know how to judge things qualitatively. It has to know how it plays, it has to know if it's fun. With the methods you're proposing, it won't work.

A computer can't fully rate a video game.

AFAIK, nobody has successfully made that before.

And stop using that self-proclaimed "argument stopper". It's obnoxious and it makes you sound like an asshole. Just say it straight that you don't want to add anything more.

Until computers become emotive, it is impossible to make one judge a good scene.

Ah, but when computers become emotive, does that not lead to BIAS?

Wikipedia is failing on me, but I am basically certain that modern computers (including Babbage's Analytical Engines) were/are Turing complete. I think that a Turing complete machine, with infinite time and memory, can simulate any computer in existance.

Thus,

is a terrible argument.

Heck, davidz40's Super Fast Phun Computer could do it. With enough time and added memory.

Nope. Nu-uh. No way.

Also, sure, just ignore my huge post I spent so long writing. :problem:

For the record, everyone agrees that SOMETIME, computers will achieve sentience, right?

And this is way, way off-topic...

Damn it, stop ignoring things. That's the f'n point. It may be possible that a computer can judge qualitatively, but not with the methods you're proposing. So far, no one has found the correct way to do that yet hence, "We're talking about now."
Also,

Yeah I could, but the database would have to be extended with another column, which isn't that hard to do, but the scenes table is already a bit too large (i.e. slow).
I also don't see the need to disable Like and Tweet since they can't provide any direct negative feedback to the user (as with comments and ratings).

But thank you for your suggestion!

ALLRIGHT, BACK ON TOPIC.

I cannot be certain, but I think the Facebook and Twitter buttons just give you a shortcut of saying "I like this scene" on Facebook, or a shortcut to tweet about the scene.

Really, it would be tough for some random person to use these to directly tell you that "your scene is bad you should feel bad" because it opens to complete and utter nothing.

Also, maybe they should make the Preview button in the forum a bit more obvious.

Why? There's only like, five people here (if even) who have Google+.

Actually, I think you only need a Google Profile, but I'm not sure how that differs from Google+, anyway Google Profile seems to be open for anyone. I believe Google+ is still invite only.

Anyone without Google+, but with gmail, that feel like trying to press the +1 button?

I have a gmail account i'll give it a try

edit; It works and appears on my google profile, i don't have google plus since its still invite only and it comes up in my +1 section.

Scene i +1'd; http://www.algodoo.com/algobox/details.php?id=56398

Would you like a screenshot, it shows a thumbnail of the scene as well as a link, details on Author, group, file size, date added, rating, downloads and views in that order.
