50Hz is enough

Postby Kilinich » Fri Jan 18, 2013 2:09 pm

This suggestion is not for algodoo developers but for players:
In most cases 50Hz is enough for scene (because 50FPS is enough for video), so you will be able to add more geometries, more scripts. I've test it and must admit it's a good way to increase scene performance and stability.
100Hz and more is required by high RPM objects and engines only.
Dream of Algodoo as game development engine...

60Hz may be better for visual purposes, since most monitors are 60Hz. But yeah 100Hz is a waste if you are running a scene with no fast moving objects in it, lowering the physics framerate to like 25Hz really helps with large amounts of water etc.

i agree with you, now i understand how the frequency in algodoo works, the more the frequency the smoother the object moves.

am i wrong?

I personally play at 1250 Hz. I just feel 50 Hz isn't enough for simulating at a realistic size (1/2 a meter etc.)
Millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. Something terrible has happened.
