Okay, speaking with emil, algodoo runs in a state where all FPU calculations are rounded as to reduce the 'chaos theory', however he also states that the chaos theory could be worser due to how 64bit FPUs handle it.

And, recompiling for 64 bit isn't always as easy as recompiling, not all libs are distributed in source, and maintaining a copy with the x64 and x86 code isn't always easy and is a pain in the ass.

The best solution is to leave it compiled as x86, there is no real need to compile algodoo for x64, the only chance of needing more then 2GB ram, is when CPUs catch up and we can create scenes that need that much ram without running at 0% real time.

So it's impossible to create the 64 bit version...

it is not impossible to create the 64 bit version, but what is the point to create the 64 bit version? what benefit will it have?

Nowadays, Windows will not make 32 bit version anymore.They switch it to 64 bit version so that's why.(sorry if you don't understand)

Algodoo is intended to be ran in schools, of which the systems do still use x86.

With the libraries required for algodoo, it would take too much time for x64 AND x86 to be supported.

Even windows 8 is available in an x86 edition, thus Microsoft is NOT removing support for x86, maybe in 5 years when the majority of x86 machines will have passed life expectancy.

As I've tried to state, although an x64 bit version of Algodoo is possible, Emil has basically said, that while x86 still supported by Microsoft, algodoo will remain x86.

that's not correct on it's face. according to Kevin Remde Windows 8 the consumer and professional product supports both 32bit and 64bit architecture, Windows 8 RT (Windows on ARM) you don't have to worry about because you can't purchase and install it anyways.

in fact, the only information I found about microsoft abandoning the 32bit platform was a chingrish page which inferred that Windows Server 2008 was not 32bit compatible (it is) and suggested that Windows 8 might support 128bit architecture (it does not)

64 bit will be awesome, it's very annoying how whenever you try to run large scenes, algodoo says " out of memory! install more ram" and when you look, only like 20% of your memory is used.
