More Visual Effects

For example, motion blur, glowing, and luminous things (last two are quite similar).

No, it might not necessarily improve gameplay, but it would add to the funness of algodoo. Before people post saying that it is unrealistic, glowing/luminescence IS realistic, as in real life things glow and are luminescent.

motion blur can bef faked wih tracers. as for light, I like it. there should definitely be a luminescence slider.

Hadn't thought of that! Great idea! :clap:
But if there was a motion blur slider, you wouldn't have to have to add lots of tracers, like on a large object. Also, where the tracers overlap, you get more opaque lines, and while it can be avoided, it is difficult and time consuming. But the tracers are still great!

You can make things glow by setting their opacity to 0 with a refractive index of 90 and shooting a laser at it. (Does not work for square objects.) Check out my laser shield for a better understanding.

motionblur = modified groovy mode
glow and luminescence cannot be faked for now.

Also, adding a bit more to the idea, some object skins should be done in SVG(tracers/lasers) - the current ones get too much pixelated when you zoom in.

How do you do that?

I totally agree, svg is amazing. :)

Can you post a screenshot, because when i use that scene, the laser just reflecs lots inside the shape and makes it the color of the laser. Not glowing at all. :geek:

this scene is an example of luminescence

You have to get the laser to hit at a very wide angle, so its almost flat or flat with the surface of the clear part.

I had a fiddle with making some earlier, got it working but didn't save, i hadnt seen this thread yet. personally, i think about 30 works best for the refraction level. if its set too high, it doesn't glow as the light doesn't escape.

Notice how it says, "glow and luminescence cannot be faked for now." That was a fake of glowing.
