Gradient textures collection

Postby Kilinich » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:34 am

My suggestion is to include gradient textures into standard installer
So I've create gradient textures pack (GT-Pack) and here it is:

All textures is good quality, in PNG format, will be installed in Algodoo/textures/gradients folder.
Attachments
gradients.phi
Gradient textures pack and demo file.
Open gradients-demo.phz after install.
All textures stored in textures/gradients folder.

I downloaded the .phi, but can't find it? I installed it through Algodoo. But nothing there.

Don't worry. I found it and re-installed. It works fine!

What's the difference between gradient textures and normal textures?
I do stuff and break things. You know how it is.

Gradient textures is subset of normal textures

Speaking seriously - main idea is make very useful and universal texture set for any scene.

Just tried it, at first I though it didn't work but turns out I was using a completely different file...no idea why. But, yes, it works now :D

Very nice. I'm liking this.
One idea is to make a trasparent to white gradient.

i think scene size can be shrinked down by making the linear gradients' width resolution smaller(1px wide).

this can increase their quality dramatically by using a higher height too.

not 1pix, because you will only have 256 steps (in 512x512 you have dither noise and it looks smother) but it can be optimized.

What do you mean by "working" ? :wtf:
.phi is just an archive.
All textures placed in textures/gradients folder.
Demo scene placed in scenes folder.
That's all.
You need to apply texture to geom and adjust it's color/position/scale

These are very useful, hopefully they will come as standard in future versions. :)
