Versieon wrote:thats not exactly what this is, if you would want all the colors to come out, the object would be white, as i said in the first post, and this is realistic, there are filters to filter out infa red light and uv and the only reason you see colors from an object in real life is because the object is absorbing all the rest of the visible colors, and only reflecting the color that you see.

Exactly. We see the light that is reflected, not the light that "goes through" an object. I've taken a red laser and shone it through several colored things and the color of the laser after it goes through it and hits the wall is always red. Okay? Is that enough or am I going to have to take a picture?

your confused, you would not be shining a red laser through things, you would be useing a white or multi wavelength laser. the only way the laser would change colors would be if number 3 is implemented.

ok, were picturing a white laser as a concentrated flashlight. shine a flashlight through blue cellophane. what color light is it when it passes the cellophane? blue ._.

when you point a white light through a blue filter, the light will be blue afterwards, since all other frequencies are (partially) absorbed by the filter... same applies to a laser. BUT a red laser only producing red light will just be darkened by a blue filter, since it does not send light in the blue wavelength, meaning that less red light is visible behind the filter, but of course still no blue light. the filter can't change the frequency of the light, it can only filter out some wavelengths more than others

/discussion

I would love to see partially transparent objects being able to filter out wavelengths in algodoo

I support, BUT there should be an option in the material menu to choose whether it filters light or not. This would be on by default in new scenes, and off in old scenes for compatibility reasons.

Yes, RA2lover was right, I did make something like a filter in beta testing.

EDIT: Just noticed the dates, but meh XD
